Stock The Shelves

The fridge is re-stocked!

IMG_1166

Just ignore the alcohol shelf – that is not under my  management

IMG_1167

Highlights of our trip to Whole Foods included yogurt, cheese, and greens! Makes for a perfect lunch.

IMG_1178

IMG_1160

I picked out a new bleuish cheese in hopes for some more marshmallow. I love this gorgonzola, but it’s not quite as good as the raw bleu I’ve been buying.

IMG_1161

I made a big ole spinach salad topped with cheese, veggies, a drizzle of honey and…

IMG_1158 IMG_1159IMG_1155

My San Francisco farmer’s market purchase

IMG_1157

Mmmm!!!

IMG_1175

IMG_1177

Plus a side of pumpkin yogurt!

IMG_1172

The granola is a new one – Ancient Grains – sent to me for sampling from Nature’s Path. My own personal opinion is that Nature’s Path  makes the best granola on the market. I love their almost sticky, crispy Hemp Plus and Agave granolas and get them in the bulk bins at Whole Foods.

This new one is made from spelt, kamut, amaranth, quinoa and oats – all favorites of mine in cooked form! The nutritionals are good too – about 250 calories per 3/4 cup with 5g protein, 6g fiber, 9g of sugar. But since I eat granola by the sprinkle (usually about 1/4 a cup) that comes out to 85 calories. Not bad. The only complaint I have is the soy oil in the ingredient list. Why not use coconut for an even more fun flavor layer? The bad news for me is this is only sold at Costco and we don’t have one here in Cville!

IMG_1163 IMG_1164

The Nature’s Path granolas always remind me of marshmallows (I think that must be one of my favorite flavors!) and I think it’s the molasses in the ingredients!

I can already tell this is going to be addictingly delicious. Just look at those clumps!!

Tea season

IMG_1176

All of today’s dishes came from Anthropologie!

IMG_1168

I am sporting slouchy boots and skinny jeans for the first time today. They are very comfy, but I’m finding that my big [strong] legs are pulling the the jeans down off my waist because they are tightest there.

IMG_1181

I decided NOT to read HP7 before the movie. But I do need to read #6 plot summary at the least. Dragon Tattoo is SO GOOD! You guys were right – it took 100 pages and then BAM. I’m on 300 something at the moment!

Where is the mail truck!!?! I am waiting on 8 days worth to be delivered!!

I understand your perspective. I’ve only read “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” so far. I have not liked mysteries since I was 10 years old, and couldn’t put that one down. Why? For me, the Swedish perspective was interesting. The author’s voice was lively, and different than anything I’d read in ages. Lisbeth was a TOTALLY compelling character. And the inside take on journalism was very interesting to me.

I can see how they wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I really enjoyed it, and will read #2 and #3. (But with a break … I didn’t rush right out to get them.)

Good use on the lavender salt, I picked one up (new to me) in Napa during Foodbuzz trip. Does the salt wilt the greens a little? I’ll try it and I guess I’ll find out for myself.

I have no clue about cheese (well, not as much knowledge I have about chocolate) so it’s great seeing reviews on your post about cheeses that I have access to at Wholefoods.

I love skinny jeans w/ tall boots, but you know what I might love more? Jeggings w/ tall boots or even ballet flats! They are super stretchy and comfy but look just like skinny jeans! I wear mine wayyyyy to often haha.

I cannot get over the cheese only costing 2.99! Around here that would totally set you back like 6 bucks!!! 🙂

I always choose the SMALLEST hunk I can find (it’s smaller than the photos make it look) and often the cheapest of a variety too.

Have you had Laughing Cow’s newest flavors? They have blue cheese, queso fresco & chipotle, and mozzarella with sun dried tomato. All light versions.

Hey Kath! I went to Great Harvest for the first time today. They opened one on Mallard Creek near UNC-Charlotte right next to Trader Joe’s. It was amazing and I bought a loaf of Dakota since you always eat it! I loveeeeeeeeeeeee it!

Interesting salad combo with the honey and salt. Good?

Nature’s Path granola always looks so good, but I think most of them are made with nuts. It’s so tough being a food blogger with a nut allergy! 😛

Wow Kath, your fridge looks wonderful! So many yummy things! You have none of the condiments like we usually have though: eggs, cheese, mayo, mustard, soy sauce, teriyaki, sugar free Tang, butter, ketchup, applesauce, hot sauce, parmesan cheese and yogurt!
Your healthful meals inspire me to feed myself better!

And skinny jeans and boots are so stylish right now! Fabulous!

My mom has a CSA share through Eat Well Farm. And I brought back a little jar of their Lavender Sugar scrub from the Farmer’s Market in June in that exact same jar. 😀

I have always been kind of shy about skinny jeans because of my disproportionately large calves, but finally caved and started wearing a pair over the summer. I haven’t tried them with boots yet, though, because none of my boots fit comfortably after training for my last race. doh.
