State Of The Union

I have a habit of checking the yard when I wake up to see what might have happened during the night. Things like trees down, flowers blooming or snowfall. I used to stare into our backyard in our houses in Charlotte and Fry’s Spring to check the weather, skies, snow on the grass before I got going on my day. Our new house’s bedroom faces the front, so I check the grass quickly and then later in depth off the back porch when I take my breakfast photos.

But here is the yard it all started in!! No snow on the ground, but I hear some is on the way…

I slept with Ducky last night, who is my sister’s duck she got Easter 1991. You can see his youthful appearance in this post. He is an upsidedown bathmat!

 IMG_6360

But these two, Daffy and Pistachio, (also Larbs’s) wanted in as well. It might have been a bit crowded with all three (although Larbs used to sleep that way!). But I suspect they would make great maternity pillows!?

IMG_6363

We have some crazy animals in this house, and funny thing is that they all still live here and Larbs and I do not!

Breakfast this AM was a yogurt mix. I was thrilled to find greek yogurt in the fridge! My mom has gotten hooked at my dad’s wallet’s disappointment.

    • 1 container greek yogurt
    • Strawberries (which I brought from home! Sad thing is that somebody cut onions on the wooden cutting board and didn’t scrub it so my strawberries tasted like onions. I still ate them because they were expensive and delicious underneath)
    • Half banana
    • Drizzle honey
    • Cinnamon
    • Nuttzo!

Haha my room is just about the same as when I left for college, stuffed animals and all! However, my parents are thinking of downsizing soon… I hope they plan on taking my stuff with them because it sure won’t fit in my studio right now!

I’m with you – I’m terrified of my parents moving to a smaller house and having to pack up all of my stuff that’s still there; I don’t want to store all of that!

Hmmm…not specifically. Gluten, yes, and the other wheat related diseases, but not oats in particular.

My mom has turned the guest room in my house that I grew up in into a doll room. Seriously…it’s filled with dolls and it’s the freakiest thing you can imagine. I guess they keep her company now that my brother and I are gone?

    Hey Kath!

I just wanted to post here to say “hi” and give a huge “thanks” for your breakfast photos. You’ve revolutionized my breakfast for sure. I’ve been on a weight loss journey that turned into me being an avid runner. Over 75 pounds later, I’m training for my first marathon after several smaller races and my body needs fuel. I used to eat some pretty boring stuff. But now, its “everything in a bowl” and its *awesome*! Just wanted to leave a quick “thanks” for this inspiration every morning in case these sorts of posts get boring.
