You are here: Home / Lifestyle / Speaking Of Spanish…

Speaking Of Spanish…

After more work, a 30 minute walk to the grocery store and back for veggie + hummus platter ingredients, and getting dressed, we set out for our evening excursion.

First stop: the running store. I came home with the Asiacs. The guy was NOT happy that I ran on dirt with my shoes 🙁 Hopefully all of my nerves survive this pair!

IMG_2131 (640x480)

After our grocery store walk, I was starving and had an ota.bar in the car up to tide me until dinner. PB + Banana were delish!

IMG_2101 (640x480)

We arrived as Las Ramblas 30 minutes too early and decided to get a drink at the bar (a walk was debated but we were walked out and drinks were preferred)

IMG_2104 (480x640)

This is my new favorite Charlotte restaurant!!!!!! Awesome menu, cool decor  good service!

IMG_2105 (480x640)

IMG_2116 (640x480)

IMG_2117 (480x640)

IMG_2118 (640x480)

I ordered a glass of the Atteca Zin, which I’ve had before and loved. My first glass was a bit on the old side and while I hate to do it, I told the bartender and asked for a fresh glass. She was happy to open a new bottled and comped our drinks, so we were totally impressed!

IMG_2109 (480x640)

The fresh glass rocked 😉

IMG_2115 (480x640)

Matt, of course, got a brew.

IMG_2111 (480x640)

The Sweetwater from ATL

IMG_2112 (480x640)

Then Larbs and her friends arrived!

IMG_2119 (640x480)

More wine was served

IMG_2121 (640x480)

IMG_2123 (640x480)

IMG_2122 (640x480)

I ordered the Spinach + Arugula salad with Fried Goat Cheese to start. The salad was pretty small for eight whole dollars, but at least the goat cheese was awesome.

IMG_2125 (640x480)

Matt and I shared a pizza for our main course, which was also small, but what we were expecting. It had smoked salmon, chorizo, olives, and cheese, among other delights. And it was delicious.

IMG_2128 (640x480)

IMG_2127 (640x480)

I had another splash of wine, which put me from tipsy to drunk in 5 minutes! GAH I can’t handle more than a large glass anymore!!! 1.5 glasses is my demise.

IMG_2130 (640x480)

We were planning to meet our friends at the Annual Greek Festival, but I discovered that Matt has to get up in 6 hours for work, so I said we should just go home.

I’m pretty tired too. ‘Twas a long day! Nighty night!

You are a determined customer today. I don’t feel bad about doing things like sending back a drink, I always do it politely and I figure – I paid for it right?!?!

¡Que fabuloso! Spanish food is the way to go! Tapas is one of my favorite ways to eat…especially when goat cheese is involved. Glad you had a great night!

That decor reminds me of the flamenco bar my friends and I frequented while studying in Sevilla Spain. I get giddy every time I see the Spanish flag.

Glad you had a blast and got new shoes too!

I’m with you. If a wine is oxidized, it goes back. No questions asked. if it smells like wet dog, dirty gym back or wet rags…sayanara and they have to open a new bottle. This is especially true with cheaper wines- they oxidize much faster (like within a day without proper preserving systems!). But of course they usually only offer the cheaper wine by the glass, so it’s a catch-22!! Argh! Anyway, you did the right thing!

Oh my gosh, I wouldn’t feel bad at all about asking the bartender for a fresh glass. Seriously, when you are paying $10 or more for a glass of good wine, you want it to be good, not just “drinkable!”

Looks like a great restaraunt and a great night with good friends.

    Have a lovely Saturday!

I’ve been running in those Asics since June and don’t love them nearly as much as the pair I switched them out for. I had been running in the same model that was 2 or 3 years older. Now my shins are giving me trouble… It’s been too long to try to swap the shoes out at the running store and I can’t afford more until I get some Christmas money. I hope you have better luck with them!

Love my Asics, nothing beats them!!!!!!!! I totally would have spoken up about the wine too. I hate it when they give the dregs of an old bottle that has been sitting around for ages. Yuk
