Stop And Smell The Coffee

Another fulfilling morning! I woke up and decided I was in the mood to exercise right away, and I knew it would be better for my schedule since we’re leaving for Davidson at 11:30.

I used to dread biking to the gym and made myself do it for the environment, but now it is my very favorite part of working out!!! It’s so totally refreshing.

At the gym I did 30 minutes on the Stairmaster and then remembered I needed to treadmill run to test out my shoes, so I did hopped on one. I hate treadmills, but it wasn’t that bad. I put the incline at 2.6 and the speed to 6.2 and ran about 1.5 miles. Loved the shoes and had no trouble with numbness!!

On my way home I ran biked straight into a 5K Fun Run! It put a kink in my route and I debated turning around and going the long way home. This wasn’t a competitive race, so I could have easily biked by, but I would have been going in the opposite direction. I asked the police officer there if I could go and he said to wait. So I did. For about 10 minutes. But the more I watched the families, kids and dogs walk/skate/stroller by, the happier I got. Everyone was having so much fun! And there was a man next to me drinking the most wonderful smelling coffee that. When I was finally free to go, I was glad I stopped to watch 🙂

Once home, I showered and had built up a strong appetite.

  • Pineapple Chobani (YUMMMMM!) from my sample pack
  • A plum
  • ~1/2 cup GoLean Crunch Honey Almond Flax
  • Sprinkle chia seeds + coconut
  • Spoonful Barney Butter

It wasn’t the best mix ever (the flavors were all over the place), but it was still good.

Marley Coffee – One Love. I heated my Half and Half and am not sure why the fat separated again. Maybe it was too long.

How fun to watch a race… I’ve always wanted one to be near me so I could watch like all the great people who support us as we run by. But truth is I probably would enter 😉

I don’t know about the combo of pineapple and nut butter….just too strange for me.

I’m really puzzled at why your half and half is separating. I don’t ever heat mine and I’ve never had a problem. You should try the shelf-stable kind and see if that helps.

    Hi Kath!
I have a random question about sports bras.. do you have a favorite brand that you like? I’m in search of one that I can wear for high impact that holds me in place but is still comfortable or somewhat comfortable. I am in the process of updating my workout wardrobe so any recs would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

Hey Kath, what kind of bike do you have? I’ve got a road bike that’s great for fast riding, but awful for driving around town in. I’d like to get some sort of commuter bike that I can actually go places on!

What a great way to start the day – you are going to have so much fun tailgaiting – I almost enjoy that more than the game! 😀

Our closest college is an hour away but our neighbor is an Alumni – Northern Illinois University – good times!

That’s what happens to my half-and-half when it’s going bad.

Also, I’m totally ticked for you that they gave you a hard time when returning the shoes! If Mr. Kabillion Marathons had fitted you correctly to begin with you wouldn’t have to return them. Why shouldn’t you run with YOUR shoes on dirt? Did they want to try to resell them? Gross. I’d find a new shoe store.

Stopping your workout for 10 minutes can certainly be aggravating…. I really admire your positive attitude about it! Way to look on the bright side! 🙂

Now I remember what I forgot at Wholefoods… Pineapple chobani!!! lol

Is your half n half fresh?? It may be going bad and that why it is separating in your coffee. If it isn’t organic it will go bad quicker even if the date is good for another few days.

My cream will always do that when it gets near the expiration date, right when it is fresh it is best–also be sure to keep it in the coolest part of your fridge–not on the door! 🙂

    Emily,
I don’t have great sports bras – they are a mish mosh of ones I have picked up on sale here and there. I have a FILA one that I just got that I really love. It’s blue and stretchy material. I also have one from GAP that is like a real bra – hooks in the back – and it’s REALLY supportive, but also kind of tight and better for under t-shirts b/c of the strap shape. I like the Champion ones from Target too, but they aren’t the most supportive without doubling up with a tank top with built-in bra.

    Susan,
A Craig’s list bike! I don’t even know the model. It’s probably from Wal-Mart and it cost me $40. It works though!!
