Smoothie Blood!

I’m in a fantastic mood because I slept late 🙂

Late being 8:00!

I woke up at 6:00 and probably could have gotten up but I knew that would only be 7 hours so I put on my sleep mask and wished for 30 minutes more. 30 minutes –> 2 hours! I love it when you wake up and it’s later than you think 🙂

Came down and made a fabuloso SIAB!

The Vita-Mix

  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 fresh banana
  • 1 cup plus a bit more milk
  • 1 scant scoop Vega Almond
  • Ice
  • Galaxy Granola
  • Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Crumbles
  • Magic Shell Coconut Butter

IMG_4800 (640x427)

Before I knew it, smoothie was leaking out of the chopstick holes in my Ramen bowl! It looked like the smoothie was attacked by a vampire!

IMG_4793 (640x427)

It made quite the mess!

IMG_4801 (640x427)

IMG_4797 (640x427)

Totally stuffed with smoothie now and have a full day planned. Lots of NEAT exercise!

Let the packing begin!!!

Love that NEAT! I’ve Ben looking into BMR stuff a lot lately…funny to see a link to it here from you. Have you ever figured out what your daily cal. burn is? Mine is much higher than I thought!

I’ve done a Bod pod and metabolism test. Might seems right on track – BMR about 1300. No idea how much activity I do, but I know I probably walk at least a mile at the hospital!

Do you know what your body composition is? I’m still trying to decided what a healthy % of body fat is….the range is so big for “healthy”

If you google BMR you will get several different calculators. I’ve found that they all come in pretty close to each other. Then you multiply by how active you are.

NEAT – I tried to understand but wasn’t getting that much from the site.

Do you mean non-intentional exercise activity, such as cleaning, packing!, walking throughout your work day (ie throughout hospital from ward to ward), shoveling driveways, etc?

It is a great picture with the colors from the bowl, smoothie and the table. It always looks like are. I liked the article about NEAT. My husband get frustrated because I can’t sit still even to watch a movie. Now I know that I am just getting some form of excercise when I am constantly up and down.

In your schooling are you learning about the pH of our bodies? Do you know anything that you could share about why its bad to be acidic?

    • Kath says

      June 12, 2010 at 3:51 pm

Everything that I’ve learned about acids and bases in Nutritional Biochem implies that our built-in systems easily correct the problem. The lungs in the short term (changes in breathing make more or less carbonic acid) and the kidneys in the long term. But I have heard all about the alkaline foods and what not. I’m not really sure what I think about it. I think it’s one of those extreme things that the typical American diet that’s ALL animals and virtually ZERO plants might cause damage, but those of us who eat healthy 90% of the time aren’t going to have acidic bodies to the point of harm.

I love when that happens, but I definitely sleep a lot less as I get older, and since I wake up around 5:30am every weekday.

That’s funny that the smoothie leaked out of the bowl. I guess it overfilled capacity!
