Sing-Along

I go through phases with Pandora – I’ll listen to it every day for a week and then get tired of it slowing down my computer or being open in a browser tab and take a month hiatus. Today I have it ON and I am loving all of the songs pumping out of my Josh Groban station! I have been singing all night!

Today was a good mail day!

I got a birthday card from my Grandma Younger and two fun packages. The first, some delicious looking plum jam from BethT! Can’t wait to dig into this when my current raspberry runs out 🙂 Thanks Beth!

IMG_5346 (640x427)

And then…I went nutz!

IMG_5341 (640x427)

I received a sample of this Nuttzo nut butter from Open Sky to test out for the KERF shop. It’s a blend of Valencia peanuts, cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts and sunflower seeds, all roasted and still chunky.

IMG_5338 (640x427)

At first taste, [straight from the jar!] I wasn’t totally sold. The information sheet that came with it said it retails for about $12.50 per jar. Dang! The taste reminded me of Naturally Nutty and Naturally More. I thought it could use a wee bit of sugar 😉

IMG_5339 (640x427)

And THEN the crunch started to happen. This butter is FILLED with flax seeds and crunchy chunks of all kinds of nuts and seeds. I am a big crunchy PB fan, so I liked it more with each bite. Yeah, I probably had 2-3 TBSP worth!?

Served on a bernaner

IMG_5342 (640x427)

I finally passed the jar off to Matt and said “try this. And don’t let me have any more.” He loved it as well and ate a good bit. He agreed that it just got better and better [texture!] Then Karen stopped by and ate a big dollop – another fan! So now 1/3 of the jar is gone.

It will be appearing in the KERF Shop soon!!! I will let you know when 🙂

Until then, the guys at Open Sky have given me the go-ahead to share a 10% discount code for everything in the store. Just type in KATH at checkout 🙂

Dinner tonight was a frittata!

IMG_5355 (640x427)

We sautéed green peppers, spinach and pimentos, added 4 eggins, and 3 small slices of leftover Bald Head cheese and broiled for a few minutes.

IMG_5348 (640x427)

Served with lightly buttered Honey Whole Wheat toast from Great Harvest.

Snacktime

Two hours later, I’m still up studying (and fighting bugs!!!!). I felt a slow build of hunger – and needed some carbs! When I do a long and/or particularly hard workout, I definitely feel myself craving carbs in the evenings. And I have some. No sense putting my body through hell!

I broke into a new box of cereal – Oatios by New Morning – that was sent to me a while back. I combined that with about 1/3 a cup of the last of my Erewhon Raisin bran (where were the raisins!?)

IMG_5367 (427x640)

The Oatios were kinda eh. A little too airy (I think Cheerios are denser?). I did go back for a small bowl of seconds though! Gotta finish that milk 😉

I love crunchy nut butters. I like making my own blend with my food processor and leaving it a little on the crunchy side – so good!

Love the hidden Matt face in the toast picture. 🙂

That PB sounds amazing! I’m pretty big on crunch–so that sort of sold me!

And cereal bowls need to be refilled til there is no more milk; to do otherwise is blasphemous, no?

Your frittata looks so yummy! I’m a big fan of the blog.

But I’m starting to wonder… do you blog outside most evenings? Because you mention bugs and I’m assuming that you are in your backyard. Just wonderin’.

Keep up all the great ideas and all the inspiration– you inspired me to run again this evening! Thanks! 🙂

I just discovered Pandora. I have a few different stations I created. But I hear you on not wanting it to be slowing down my computer. But I love that it’s free and it tells me it will “never play that again” if I don’t like a song. How awesome!

Sometimes you just have to eat what your body is craving if it will help you avoid overdoing it with other stuff. I’m a carb craver if I’ve done a super hard workout too 🙂

Ok if I can be 100% honest, which is what I think you want. I wasn’t sold on Open Sky when you first introduced it the other day. I should rephrase that. As in, sold enough to click on it and check it out.

But you sold me tah~night! Love peanut butter, love crunch and that sandwiched from what I remember the other day, I’m going to visit. Not saying I’m going to purchase something this evening, but I’m darn well heading over there as soon as I finish my two cents worth here. Thank you!
