Simply Irresistible

I’ve been wanting to buy flowers for my home for a while, but every time I went to a flower market they were either too drab or too expensive.

BLOG-9823

Until I found these beautiful LOCAL tulips for $6.99 today!! They brightened up my cloudy day for sure.

BLOG-9827

Do you know what else is simply irresistible? Whole Foods salad bar while grocery shopping right before lunch.

BLOG-9803

I’ll just let you drool on the plantains (!!) and sweet potatoes and wheatberry salad and bleu cheese and curried cauliflower I packed into my box

BLOG-9809BLOG-9805BLOG-9813BLOG-9811

On the side: an end piece of Karen’s No Knead Bread

BLOG-9815

Still chugging that lemon water. Hopefully I have lettuce breath now!

BLOG-9818

I’m going to yoga in a bit – inbetween Great Harvest conference calls and basket and tissue paper research for our giveaway baskets! Also, we’re now on Twitter!!

If I do buy fresh flowers I usually stick with the potted variety so that they last a bit longer.

I LOVE having fresh flowers in the house but I agree that they are so price-y. My husband never buys me flowers for any occasion because he knows I think it’s too expensive for something so fleeting.

Those tulips are so beautiful. And man–that Whole Foods salad looks awesome! I just introduced my best friend to the WF hot bar and she’s been back to visit four times in the last week. So far, I’ve managed to limit my WF salad bar consumption to when I’m traveling, though I have been tempted while shopping at my local store.

Wow, local tulips this time of year — impressive. We usually only have fresh flowers when we get them from our yard/garden during the warmer months. During the winter, we brighten things up with homemade candles 🙂

If you poke a small hole with a pin in the stem very close to the flower end (not all the way through), they will last A LOT longer … it probably draws more water into the stem.

    Kath,

I’m not sure if you saw this new nutrition study that says, basically, NOT to eat a large breakfast to maintain your weight – if you have a chance to read it and offer your take I would be very interested in what you have to say:

Hmmph. Well I don’t know all the details of the study from that article, but I’d like to know what those subjects were eating. I think the point of the article wasn’t that eating a big breakfast is going to hurt anything, but that it’s not going to knock off your hunger for the rest of the day either. I know personally I would be starting 2 hours after breakfast and I’d start snacking (rightly so) to ward off the hunger and I’d probably end up eating more calories then if I’d just had a bigger, more satisfying breakfast. My body likes meals about the same size 3 times per day. Snacking makes me overeat. However, if someone came to me and said they ate a small breakfast and it satisfied them, I agree with the prof. that I wouldn’t make them eat a big one just because.

So basically I think you have to figure out what works for your body!
