Same Old Wildcats

Reunions are fun and weird!!

Most people have probably seen their good friends in the past 5 years at weddings and trips and such. But it’s all the people you were sorta friends with that it’s so fun to see. This really is just like being back in college!

IMG_0866

Our drive down today was SO LONG. But thankfully Matt drove the whole way (not sure why he let me get away with that!) I’m liking Girl with the Dragon Tattoo a lot now 🙂 It’s like the game CLUE!

IMG_0807

Two days till I’m back home!

IMG_0806

We made it with just enough time to check into our hotel and grab a snack. A Hungry Bar I had frozen and thawed. These are SO GOOD!

IMG_0823

I hate ironing and rarely do it. I just don’t think it’s very necessary. But one of my shirts was terribly wrinkled so I got Matt to do it (he doesn’t mind ironing!)

He went from husband

IMG_0824

To frat boy in 60 seconds!!

IMG_0826

[Don’t worry, the light goes easily back onto the wall!]

Our first even was a welcome reception at Ye Ole 900 Room

IMG_0855

IMG_0851

IMG_0850

Actual quote from the night: “I remember you were the first person to ‘Poke’ me on Facebook” –Snake to Alaa’

IMG_0849

My senior year roomie! [Meredith where are you?]

IMG_0846

IMG_0848

Do you see the college student playing foosball barefoot in the next room!?!

IMG_0839

The food was pretty tasty, but lacking in veggies.

IMG_0829

IMG_0833

Some fruit, puff pastried and fried finger foods, pita chips and dips

IMG_0834 IMG_0836 IMG_0835 IMG_0838

Note that the allergy card had ONION on it!!!

IMG_0840

I had a small mixed plate, followed by a second plate of hummus + pita and another of fruit. It wasn’t much for dinner, but I don’t have a huge appetite. I think the combination of super indulgent 8 days and the time change has thrown it off. Two lame dinners in a row! Hoping for a good one tomorrow 🙂

IMG_0842

We all headed the the famous Brickhouse Tavern – the local watering hole – for socializing.

IMG_0871

IMG_0869

I am also pretty alcoholed out – I had no desire to drink anything tonight. Just some H20 and a few sips of Matt’s beers to try. I actually did taste some wine and it was AWFUL! I am not a wine snob, but after a week in wine country I could tell such a difference in quality. Hope I am not turning into one!

IMG_0870

IMG_0876

Canada is here!

IMG_0874

Hopefully they won’t end up like this like their younger selves did:

IMG_0865

I left the partiers (who were headed back to campus to crash frat parties) to come home for this:

IMG_0812

The Homewood Suites here in Davidson is AWESOME!!! Probably the best chain hotel I’ve encountered. Each room is almost like a mini apartment. We stayed here this spring for a wedding and I was so excited to come back.

The tiny but extremely function kitchen:

IMG_0815

Hey check it out – our fridge here is the same as home! A few items and booze!

IMG_0821

When we got into town I picked up a few yogurts, fruits and a milk for breakfast + coffee in the room

IMG_0813

I also brought a ton of other breakfast supplies in our Envitote – can’t wait to dig in tomorrow AM!

IMG_0814

Now I’ve got a Davidson bear to snuggle with!

Wow. I can’t even tell you the last time I thought about the 900 Room. Talk about bringing me back… Good to know that some things never change 🙂

I don’t really care for ironing, but I know my husband dislikes it even more–you’re lucky that Matt likes it!!

I wish I could have gone back for my college 5 year reunion!!

    ahhh so fun!

i have to express my love for homewood suites as well. we stayed at one about a month ago in wilmington (last minute beach trip!) and i was so impressed with it! furthermore, we ended up having to go a day late due to something that came up at work for josh, and they completely refunded the money for the day we no-showed. i heart them.

Enjoy the reunion. I’m surprised there was no veggie tray. I thought that was mandatory with the fruit tray.

I would be so homesick, too, by that point! It will be all the sweeter when you do get home, though! 🙂 Glad you’re liking Girl with a Dragon Tattoo as well – it is like Clue, just a lot more sexualized 😛 LOL

Love that the allergy card reads “onion.”

College reunion!! How fun 🙂 The girl with the dragon tattoo is a good read, but it is a little slow in the beginning of the novel, but once I got through that part… I couldn’t put it down.

My favorite part about a hotel is the bed. So if the bed sucks I get pissed.

Good to know the Homewood Suites is nice. We pass it on our way back out to 77; usually stay in Mooresville or Huntersville when visiting MIL.

I had my college reunion this past summer, and lets just say I should have called it an early night like you did….I can’t recover like I did when I was 21! And a side note, Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo is amazing. The first 50 pgs are ok, but then it’s addicting.

It’s so strange for me to see smaller colleges where people actually know each other. I can’t even imagine a reunion like this at LSU. I probably know about 0.5% of my class!
