Eat Like A Hobbit

I left my heart on the West Coast and slept till nearly 9 this morning! That put a little bit of a delay on the day. It’s 11 and I’m just now eating second breakfast a la hobbits!

I knew upon waking that I wanted to run, but I was also really hungry, so I had a double snack that did the trick. But I think it sort of killed my second breakfast appetite!

A hunk of Hungry Bar (which is now all gone 🙁 ) and half a banana with sunflower butter

Then we ran! A glorious sunny morning jog to campus, around campus and back.

IMG_0886

Some of us were more energized this morning than others!!

IMG_0885 IMG_0883

Once we were home I put on the coffee in our tiny kitchen and Matt fell asleep!

I wasn’t really all that hungry – and seeing as that it’s 11 I considered just moving for lunch. But I decided I don’t know when and where we’re eating, so better to have a light something now.

Enter smoothie, coffee, apple

IMG_0891

I brought a handful pantry full of breakfast ingredients, including the last minute idea to bring the Vega Shake and Go Smoothie Mix. You can “just add water” when you’re on the go. I’ve always used it IN smoothies – not on its own. But since I bought some milk yesterday, I figured I could shake those together.

Not bad at all!

IMG_0892

The apple was good. The coffee was blah.

I really could sit here in this leather chair + ottoman all day long, but we have people to see! We’re going to walk (1 mile) to campus and back and get lunch there, go to the football game, and take lots of pictures on this gorgeous fall day!

I’ve been thinking about attending my ten year reunion this spring…could be fun, but would also be really weird as well. You might make me convinced, though I think I’d be more into relaxing at the hotel too. 🙂

You do such a great job of packing along (and actually) good yummies on the road! That’s not easy! We tend to subsist on plain yogurt all day when we travel, then a big bang out for dinner. Not good, not good…I know…
