RS + BHG = Happy ME

Gosh this house looks good empty 🙂 When we set up again at our new place I am SERIOUSLY going to study Real Simple and Better Homes & Gardens before I put anything away. And I’m going to take my time finding the perfect spot for things so they don’t get cluttered.

The secret to a happy house packing: lots of boxes. I’ve been hoarding them for about 6 months and packing is easy when you don’t have to strategize over which box is the most valuable.

Today was a Monday favorite: Matt-made Whipped Banana Cottage Cheese Oats!

IMG_4510 (640x427)

His Mix

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup coconut milk
  • Half banana
  • Sprinkle of raisins
  • 1/4 cup Organic Valley cottage cheese (4% and a sample treat from them), stirred in at end
  • Handful of blackberries, added on top
  • Sprinkle of Galaxy Granola Hint O Honey (like it, but vanilla is my fav!!)
  • Spoonful Naturally Nutty

IMG_4511 (640x427)

Served in my new favorite Asheville pottery bowl!

IMG_4513 (640x427)

I had a headache upon waking 🙁 Gotta wean myself again with more decaf! But today was such a coffee day.

IMG_4508 (640x427)

Plus we had a new kind to try! We used up our coffee stash and I bought some Caftea from Open Sky to try – Creme Brulee! When I came downstairs I kept getting wafts of butterscotch and didn’t realize Matt was making it. It was delicious!!!

Hope y’all have a great day!

I love Real Simple magazine 😀 I also love sparsely, but appropriately decorated places. When places are too decorated, I feel….claustrophobic…sensory overload, something!
Hope you have a great week 🙂

I do know what you mean about an emptyish clean home… but I can’t help it, I love the homey, familiar, comfortable feel of a kinda-cluttered home. I can never relax in places that look like they came out of Vogue 🙂 Course, I could relax easy anywhere that served oats like you do 😀

Oh Real Simple…that magazine is so wonderful! 😀

And butterscotch coffee just sounds like the perfect way to start an early morning. Love it! 😀 I always forget about trying the flavored coffees and usually go with a regular French Roast. I’ll need to keep an eye out for some of the flavored ones. 😀

Mmm – those oats sound fabulous. I agree about the boxs – most of my (one) closet space in my apartment is taken up by the boxes I moved in with – I deem it a prudent use of space, haha. I mean when I go to move out…everything *should* fit, right? haha 🙂

    Kath,
Have you read the book “The Happiness Project”?? One of the first things the author does to boost happiness is clear her clutter! She also suggests leaving at least one shelf completely empty. Maybe ALL of those empty shelves you have will mega-multiply your happiness! 🙂

Yes, lots of boxes make for easy moves! Especially if when you pack you label them by what room they should go in. Plus, if you don’t feel like unpacking everything all at once, it won’t look like a mess with all of them nicely stacked in the corner lol.

    Happy moving!

Lots of boxes are essential to an easier move! We’ve been saving boxes leftover from our move 3 years ago since we knew we’d move again once my husband was done with school! They were worth losing our under-the-bed storage space!

I have a questioning concerning nut butters. I recently came upon another bloggers post and her experience with a peanut butter powder, a product similar to PB2. Have you ever tried these powders? Do you think they are acceptable substitutes for other nut butters? They have less calories and fat per serving and I just wanted to get a more educated opinion on this product.

We move a lot over the course of our career so we have totes and buy more when they are on sale to keep in the attic. A lot of them are green in red 🙂

But I save Real Simple magazine articles about organizing for when I have lots of energy to reorganize.
