Real World?

I am so fortunate to have my own business that I haven’t had to “go to work” in a year and a half. Today I do! It’s a little surreal – I’m a little out of touch with reality. Last night at 10:30 I suddenly realized: “I have to go to bed. I have work tomorrow!”

Ironically, it turned out that I don’t have to go in until 11:30, so I didn’t have to have an early wake-up call

 this !
I took the opportunity to sleep until 7 and then go to the gym.

I was a little hungry so I decided to have a green smoothie first and split breakfast in two. Let the greens begin!

This morning’s packet was one of the heftier protein + green blends.

IMG_7387 (1024x768)

What I really like about Amazing Grass is that the smaller packets are JUST GREENS (and some antioxidants and probiotics) and they are 30 calories each, so they are more versatile. These “meal” packets are a little more substantial – 110 calories with 10g of protein and more fiber. It’s hard to do a true comparison of satiety with both because so many other factors play in (time of day, smoothie ingredients, hunger level, etc.) but I would imagine these packets so hold one over longer. I think the idea of drinking just greens is more fun though 🙂

I have to admit: the contents of today’s packet did not smell nice! Kind of like pet food. But here’s to health!

IMG_7390 (1024x768)

My smoothie turned army green from the addition of blueberries.

Ingredients:

  • Amazing Meal packet
  • Handful blueberries (literally)
  • Handful pineapple (literally)
  • Big handful spinach
  • Handful ice
  • Half cup 2% milk
  • Half cup water

Upon first sip I wondered if I should have added banana or honey, but then it grew on me.

IMG_7389 (1024x768)

Love my new cup!

After 30 minutes of digestion (I need less digestion if I’m not going running) I hopped on my bike for a gym trip. 2.2 miles there, 30 minutes of Stepmill, 5 minutes of weights (realized I was late) and 2.2 home.

I almost skipped Second Breakfast but then hunger grew on me. The smoothie did fill me up very well.

I decided on the last of our wheatberry salad with extra raspberries and extra cranberry pecans (the secret ingredient). LOVED this salad!! And I even got more greens in with the spinach leaves 😉

With GREEN tea (week of green continues!)

I’m walking (maybe biking) to the lightrail and taking that up to my internship location. I am not packing a lunch today, but I probably will most days (I’m only 3 days/week though). We’ll see where lunch takes me! I am packing some trail mix and a LaraBar/Clif Bar or two to carry around in the coming weeks should I need them. Not sure of my blogging status today, but I should be able to continue 3x/day throughout 🙂

See y’all after WORK!

I can definitely relate. I do all my work from home so I’m free to wake up or go to sleep whenever I want. Last night I didn’t get to bed til 5 am. Yikes.

You don’t have to answer this if you’d rather not, but I’m just curious as to what the revenue stream is for bloggers (not the amount of course, but the source)- is it advertising, or page views or corporate sponsorship? Blogging is becoming more and more common as a profession and my nerdy mind wonders how it works.

I just love it when you do your 2 breakfasts and split things up. It’s such a great way to spread things out and not let food/meals control your life! It’s better to live life and let the food work inself in, rather than worry about how your life will affect your eating habits. Hope that makes some sense! 😉

Good luck on your first day! I can’t wait to here how it goes!

    Rachel ,
    I linked to them – OhNuts.com

    Sarah ,
Most of us are members of Foodbuzz, the ad network you probalby see on the right hand side. We earn money through pageviews, so the more traffic we receive the more we are paid. Plus I’m doing lots of freelance work these days too 🙂

    Stacey ,
Definitely – send me an email.

    Heather,
    It does, thanks!

I really like HPs! Get something lightweight – perhaps a Netbook? I have one and LOOOVE it because it fits in my purse 🙂

    Adi ,
I disagree!!! I worked in publishing + PR for two years and MUCH prefer a student’s flexible lifestyle! (But the salary is def. missed..)

    B_Healthy,
Oh how fun!! Hope I’m invited to the wedding 😉

The island has shuttles (little carts) that take people from the ferry to their accommodations. You can schedule them and most come free with where you’re staying. It’s a GORGEOUS spot for a wedding! My parents are there right now!
