Dreams come true!!!!

IMG_1146Blog

Guess whose name is printed in O Magazine!?!?

IMG_1154Blog

I was asked to develop some oatmeal recipes for O, and of course I accepted with tons of enthusiasm!

IMG_1142Blog

You can guess who is the most excited of all: my mom! She’s a HUGE Oprah fan!

IMG_1141Blog IMG_1144Blog

Also on Oprah.com!

image

It also appears that Real Simple has been reading KERF..

IMG_1149Blog

-The editor’s letter was an ode to kale (and included kale chips!)

-The nutrition article highlighted sardines, kale and oats

IMG_1138Blog

-There was a recipe for an oat-based smoothie

-AND there’s a “simplify your house and organize” article!

IMG_1136Blog IMG_1137Blog

Someday I hope to write something for Real Simple. Dream big!

Yoga today was awesome!!! I walked there in sunshine, talking to my mom, and made it just in time. Pilar, my new favorite instructor, whose background is in hot vinyasa power yoga! She has music too. I put in a comment card at my gym at the end of class to beg for a hot version of the class. Wish they would crank the heat just a bit!

The walk home was long because I was hungry for lunch!!

IMG_1121Blog

Leftover Teriyaki Chickpeas with pineapple over green leaf lettuce. I think I’d call this recipe “Sweet n Sour Chickpeas” because that’s what they’re like! Delicious.

IMG_1107Blog

Plus Honey Whole Wheat with honey!

Honey1Blog IMG_1116Blog

Bubbles!

IMG_1127Blog IMG_1120Blog

IMG_1103Blog

I gotta go – there’s a double boiler of chocolate in my kitchen that needs me!!!!!!!!!

Though there is certainly no harm in dreaming big, I dare say you’ve already made it. Getting published in a nationally circulated magazine — as you’ve done several times now — is a pretty huge deal, even for a professional freelance journalist. But the oatmeal ideas are fantastic, of course, and it’s cool to see that humble grain get the love it deserves.

And I read that issue of Real Simple and thought to myself, “I know all this stuff already. The blog world has already been writing about these things for months now!” Always on top of the trends 🙂

Funny story–I was reading “O” magazine yesterday and saw this article. I thought, “these magazines are always a few steps behind the blog world in terms of the food/recipe ideas they have, then they pull from the blog world without giving any credit! They’re acting like it’s a new idea to dress up your oatmeal and Kath has been doing this on the internet for years. Be creative, O magazine!” I didn’t even think to look if they were properly crediting you. I’m so glad you DID get credit! 🙂 Congrats!

Congrats to you. True story: I ALWAYS HATED oatmeal & couldn’t imagine how anyone could eat it that bland and texture-less goop. UNTIL I found your blog & the whipped banana method, and adding nut butters & granola. Oatmeal is now my favorite breakfast & I eat it every day. NEVER gets old. Sometimes if I have something different for bfast, I will eat it for lunch. Your oatmeal has truly changed my life! 🙂
