Polly Put The Kettle On

Holy frigid night!! I stepped outside at 5:30 to find the weather had gone from summer afternoon to freezing fall evening in a matter of minutes. Shorts + t-shirt –> jeans and a jacket.

The season of drinking hot liquids has begun!

IMG_7185-2Blog

Look what I found!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to Possessions Recycled (my favorite vintage/hand-me-down store in our Great Harvest shopping center) looking for a kettle after a few business meetings today. Ever since our electric kettle broke a year ago, I’ve been heating hot water in a pot on the stovetop!

Sitting in between dozens of cracked and older models, I found this beauty in perfect condition. For all I know, it’s from 2010 [it’s got modern features like that nifty handle there], but I’m just going to pretend it’s from the 50s 😉

Bread snack during meeting + conference call:

Followed by more bread for dinner! Matt and I scored tickets to see the Avett Brothers from our friends at the radio station where we’re advertising! Since we now live within walking distance to downtown and the Pavilion, it made for a fantastic Thursday night date.

IMG_0464-2Blog

We packed tomato + cheddar cheese sandwiches in paper towels and ate them before the concert.

IMG_7188-2Blog

Tomato, mustard, pepper and cheddar is the new cheese + jam! This was so good!!

Beer for him

Coat for her!

IMG_0469-2Blog

I wasn’t all that familiar with the Avett Bros, but I LOVED their music!! Great show!

Fingers crossed that by putting the down comforter on our bed I’ll sleep better tonight!

You should try an electric kettle next! They are so fast and keep space on the stove, which is nice if you are making a lot at once. They also turn off automatically, which is very nice to have. I couldn’t live without mine.

Cheddar and tomato is a personal favorite of mine! (But I always buy white sharp cheddar – I don’t need the orange additive!).

LOVE your kettle! We got two kettles for our wedding: one just like the one you bought today (except in red) and an electric one. I couldn’t justify having TWO kettles, so I knew I needed to return one of them…it was such a hard choice! The “cute one” (or “sexy” as you called it above 😉 ) was better looking, but the electric was more efficient. I opted with the better looking one, and I’m glad I did! It looks perfect on our stove. 🙂

Although I like the look of a stove kettle,I think an electric kettle
    is much better….
    1) boils quicker, uses less energy consumption
2)in the summer I avoid turning stove on as it heats up kitchen when hot weather!
    3) I find it much quicker/simpler to use

so I chose practicality, ease, speed and energy saving over cuteness! 😉
(but that is a cute one for sure!!)
