Pink & Red

Fun, fun party!!

I didn’t really keep track of my eats tonight. I just enjoyed myself, ate until I was full, drank a few and stopped with I was starting to feel it. A very moderate night, but also a very fun night 🙂

We spent the afternoon polishing my grandmother’s silver…

IMG_1713 (800x600)

And cutting out paper hearts…

IMG_1715 (800x600)

…Setting up candles

IMG_1718 (800x600) IMG_1719 (800x600)

IMG_1724 (800x600)  IMG_1725 (800x600)

And then Nate arrived with valentine’s cards, conversation hearts (my favorite!) and a bag full of Trader Joe’s goodies! (Our party was pot luck which was so much fun!)

Boys assembling platters –

IMG_1728 (800x600)

Nate’s artichoke dip –

IMG_1729 (800x600)

Veggies + hummus

IMG_1733 (800x600)

The. Best. White. Cheddar (Vermont, from TJ’s) with caaaashi crackers (Hi Kate!! We missed you!) and corn crackers –

IMG_1734 (800x600)

Our contribution to the evening was a Smoked Salmon Mousse. Easy as pie to make and quite delicious, although a bit too salty. My only adaptation was that I used lite sour cream. It gelled perfectly.

IMG_1721 (800x600)

Plus a bunch of toasted GH bread in the form of crostini

IMG_1722 (800x600)

IMG_1737 (800x600)

I also made this Red & White Salad – Mixed Greens, Strawberries, Red Pepper, Craisins, Feta + Raspberry dressing (Annie’s) on the side – for some green!

IMG_1735 (800x600)

Amanda + Justin brought Wild Mushroom Risotto – best mushroom risotto to date!

IMG_1745 (800x600)

And Diana + Dan brought these delicious Chocolate Brownie Cupcakes with Pink Frosting!

IMG_1732 (800x600)

Tablescape

IMG_1736 (800x600)

We also made POMtinis!! This was a casual mixture (meaning I don’t really know the proportions) of POM, vodka, chambord and seltzer. Delish!

IMG_1738 (800x600)

#2

IMG_1742 (800x600)

I took the night off from photo journaling – it was too hard to photograph every bite while we were standing and chatting!! Here are the highlights, with a bunch of bites inbetween (and a heavy emphasis on crackers + cheese!)

IMG_1741 (800x600)

“Main Course”

IMG_1743 (800x600)

Some white wine (champagne glasses are so fun – and the portions are smaller!)

IMG_1746 (800x600)

A virgin POM drink, half empty –

IMG_1751 (800x600)

A touch more – plus I had a few red wine sips –

IMG_1764 (800x600)

Dessert –

IMG_1747 (800x600)

IMG_1748 (800x600)

Plus a few bites of the husband’s White Chocolate Cherry Babka!

The V. Crew

Ladies Night

IMG_1754 (800x600)

We love Nate!

The house is now put back together, and to all a good night!

2nd best KERF post ever! Second only to ‘Oatmeal at Nate’s house ‘post. Perhaps I’m biased.

I have to agree that that cheese is SO good 🙂

If anyone wants the risotto recipe, I used this one from finecooking.com: http://www.finecooking.com/recipes/wild_mushroom_risotto.aspx I quadrupled it for the seven of us but probably should have just tripled it…

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!! Thanks for having us!

White chocolate cherry Babka – I’ve only seen chocolate or cinnamon Babka during the Holidays. Ugh, I want some now – too good!

I’ve just found my way here via The Chic Life and have to say it looks like a wonderful party!

I had no idea what POM was, so I googled , as you do, and found the fabulous POM website! I should have guessed given the whole Pomegranate Juice week. Then I had to look up chambord as I’ve never heard of that either, well I guess you girls have had your fruit portions lol Sounds great, love the idea of raspberry liquer.
