Pie For Breakfast

It’s been way too long since I’ve been to yoga!! Emily and I decided to hit up an early morning class so we could get a dose of Tanner, and get our workout complete before the sunrise.

I went to Tanner’s 6:30-7:30 class. Amazing. Something about getting up to go to hot yoga is a million times easier than getting up to go to the gym!!

Before I left I had an unphotographed bite of banana and swig of coconut water 🙂

Then I sweated my heart out.

Emily and I convinced Tanner to put an opaque shield on the showers because they were totally see-through before and we were too shy to use them. Thankfully he rocks and listened to our request, and now we feel safe showering after class 🙂

I headed directly to work after my shower, hunting down a coffee on the way, and then enjoyed these overnight oats at my desk….er, chair…our office is too small for an intern desk!

IMG_4633 (640x427)

The Mix

  • 1/3 cup raw old fashioned rolled oats
  • ~1/2 cup Voskos plain low-fat yogurt (so silky!)
  • 1/3 cup skim organic milk
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • Sprinkle Cinnamon
  • Half banana
  • Handful blackberries

Topping: A new find!!!

PECAN PIE BUTTER!

IMG_4630 (640x427)

Open Sky hunted this down for me when I asked my personal shoppers to find some more interesting nut butters.

image

It tastes like LaraBar meets pecan butter. And made a perrrrrrfect oat topping!!!

Coming soon to my shop

 this !

IMG_4634 (640x427)

If I wasn’t a blogger, I would probably do a lot more early morning gym trips with breakfast to-go to eat at work. But alas, these days I’d rather settle for a gourmet breakfast at home and a workout in the afternoon on most days.

IMG_4632 (640x427)

Have a great day you guys!

um, wow, that pecan pie butter looks good! How is it so much lower in calories than regular peanut butter?

I think it’s because the serving size for the pecan butter is 1 tbsp. Peanut butters usually say that 2 tbsp. is a serving size 🙂 But off the top of my head, I don’t know the nutritional information for pecans. I just know they are delicious!

Even with 2 T. size of pecan butter it would only add up to around 86k…most nut butters clock in around 200k for the same size serving….i would assume the reason for the lower calories would be mostly due to the fact of the other ingredients..dates, for example, are a carb rather than a fat, and less calorie dense…

That nut butter looks great. The kcal are low compared to regular nut butter… or peanut/almond butter at least. Aren’t they more like 90-100 kcal per T? I wonder why that one is lower…

The lower calories are because it’s probably 50% dates so the carbs lower the fats (4 kcal/g instead of 9 kcal/g)

Your “If I wasn’t a blogger…” remark was interesting to me, partly because I am not a blogger myself and, perhaps not so coincidentally, I eat overnight oats almost every weekday. (My thanks for the overnight oats tip are long overdue, but… thanks for the tip!) I’ve wondered occasionally what sort of trade-offs one would have to make in order to post as frequently, and with such appealing photographs, as you do. Are there any others?

Looking forward to trying that pecan butter.

You should see my gym where I swim. The senior ladies have water aerobics during my lap swim, and while there ARE curtains on the stalls, they…AHEM…decide not to use them and all decide to walk around the locker room buck naked having fun 5-10 minute conversations, usually trying to draw me in. At first, I was so embarassed FOR them but now I just laugh it off. And the things they talk about!…

The yoga studio I attend is great, but they do the same thing with the showers! I have to leave class a little early and shower quickly before anyone else comes in because I just don’t know if I can throw myself out there like that, haha (I also sometimes leave a little early to beat traffic, but the shower thing doesn’t help!)
