Crampy, Hungry, Weepy, Happy

Hiya!

Another day at work has passed. 3.5 weeks to go! I have so much reading + case study working to do before I finish my internship. And 3 new rotations!

Afternoon snack: I wasn’t that hungry but knew I needed something before my run for some energy. Wish I hadn’t eaten this because it sat like a ROCK in my stomach and I had a horrrrrible run. 5.5 miles of crampy stomach and lead-filled legs. I stopped to walk at mile 3.3 for a bit. It was pretty bad. I can NEVER run as fast and well in the afternoons as I do before lunch.

IMG_4481 (640x427)

Hunger hit me hard upon return. Swigs from this were necessary:

IMG_4586 (640x427)

Then this made me cry. Mold. On my expensive organic s-burries.

IMG_4639 (640x427)

But then this made me happy –

IMG_4604 (640x427)

Leftover Terra Andina Sauv Blanc from our party. Totally a great wine for sipping!

IMG_4601 (640x427)

Meanwhile, lamb mini burgers were a’grillin’!

IMG_4599 (640x427)

And veggies were a’cookin’

Shrooms, broc, peas in sherry cooking wine and wochestershire sauce

IMG_4595 (640x427)

And together, we made a great meal

IMG_4617 (640x427)

The lamb patties were EXCELLENT!! Tiny, succulent, seasoned only with salt, pepper and Worcestershire.

IMG_4625 (640x427)

This ground lamb was a sample gift sent from the American Lamb Board from Superior Farms. The farm uses the designation “Pure Lamb,” which means humane treatment, pasture fed and free of hormones and antibiotics. We were going to make a yogurt-mint sauce to put on the patties, but I decided ketchup was just too temping.

Pile-o-veg

IMG_4624 (640x427)

Matt buttered my whole wheat sourdough – I just ate it!! We were going to make a grain to go with this meal but it was too much work. Bread always does the quick trick.

IMG_4622 (640x427)

Nothin’ like a fancy dinner on a weeknight. Wine included!

IMG_4628 (640x427)

IMG_4618 (640x427)

Just posted THREE meals in one – tomorrow I’m headed to yoga and got my breakfast post all ready to go (with a pre-made, on-the-go entree!)

See y’all early tomorrow AM!

Man, I hate it when my hunger level is too high or low before a workout. High = uncomfortable gluggy bloating and cramps, low = hunger and weakness. I usually try to exercise in the evening about 1 hour after dinner; that’s usually when my energy level is good and I’m not feeling too full. Though I suppose exercising in the morning would be way more convenient… 🙂

Strange. The most appealing part of your dinner was the veggies… I’ve never had Worcestershire sauce before. What does it taste like?

I agree with moderation, but what if you’re going through jars of the stuff? I mean doesn’t that all add up over time? Personally I stay away from that stuff and only buy nut butters with just one ingredient, the nut, and sometimes salt or I just make my own.

I doubt it accumulates. It’s not a toxin! Jars per week might be a lot, but jars per month are spread out wide enough for me.

When you get really heavy lead-legs, have you worked out what the main cause is? Like, dehydration, general fatigue, not enough/too much food etc? I sometimes get it but I never know why, and it’s so depressing!

I got the exact same feeling when I went on my run Monday. I got home from work and was really hungry, and had a snack twenty minutes before running. The snack was either too big or I didn’t wait long enough, but I kept getting cramps and was running much slower than usual. I had to take some walk breaks. It’s funny how a heavy stomach can cause a slower pace and heavy legs.

I always eat strawberries like a mad woman when I buy them–every single day until they’re gone! I guess that’s why I got kinda sick of them after a month or so, hahah.

I’m the opposite! I feel like my afternoon workouts are so much stronger than my morning workouts. I do my workouts in the afternoon during the school year… but the allure of getting them out of the way first thing in the morning is too tempting now that its summer!

That’s the good and bad thing about organic produce. Without all the extras, they’re so much better for you, but those extras keep them from going bad so you have to eat them so quick.

I have lamb in my fridge too waiting to be made in my kitchen for the first time. I’m thinking kabobs (?).
