Peeled

IMG_5221Blog

Good afternoon!

Morning was filled with cycle class (woo hoo!!), writing, GH convention bookings. I’m about to head to the bakery now for some photography.

IMG_5219Blog

Good thing lunch was already made! Leftover pasta salad

IMG_5220Blog

And a cara-cara orange! Oranges in the skin are much more beautiful but they are so much easier to eat peeled.

IMG_5218Blog

IMG_5217Blog

I’m saving a wee bit of room for some Valentine’s test chocolate bread I’m going in to photograph!

I don’t anymore – the bag is in the trash. But I just found it in this post! Siamesi (at least I think that’s the pasta name – I can’t read Italian!) https://www.katheats.com/under-the-tuscan-sun

Yes it’s Siamesi as in twins since the pasta is made of two tubes attached together.

Yummy pasta! I wish I liked oranges more. I just find them to be too much darn work – and too cold for my sensitive teeth. (Those are probably just excuses, though, since I think the true reason is that I just don’t like ’em!)

I agree, oranges and even grapefruits are way easier to eat peels. When i try to cut a grapefruit in half, and scoop out the goods, I always end up getting grapefruit juice squirted in my eye!

Thanks! I actually haven’t done a post on photography, but that’s something I should do. I actually don’t shoot in manual/RAW like a lot of other photo bloggers – it’s just too complicated. I shoot in AV mode with a tripod and edit in Lightroom.

I think pasta salad is even better the second day. It absorbs so much flavor. My summer pasta salad is not complete without a handful of fresh basil thinly sliced and tossed throughout. Just thinking about it makes me smell summer.

I love cara cara oranges – definitely my favorite kind of orange! Blood oranges are a close second.

Have you ever tried a pomelo? That’s definitely my current citrus obsession. I had one for the first time in europe, and have recently found them in the grocery here in the states. They’re GIANT, with a super-thick pith, and taste kind of like a sweet grapefruit.

I have one of those in my fridge and I’m intimidated by it. Do you just peel it and eat it like an orange, or cut it in half and scoop out like a grapefruit? I need some tips!

I peel it (you might need a knife to help you get started!) And then eat it in sections, like an orange. The membrane peels pretty easily away from the flesh/part you want to eat. I can’t finish a whole one in one sitting, so I peel the whole thing, then stick about half of it in the fridge in an airtight container. I peel the membrane off as I eat sections. I hope that helps!
