Peach Hunks

I was slammed with work this afternoon (working on a new project to debut soon!) and all of my meals were fed to me by Matt 🙂

Starting with this nub of a bread hunk from a loaf of rye bread he made today –

IMG_0447

Around 4:30 I was hungry again – this time for my favorite snack! A yogurt with granola –

IMG_0464 (640x480)

Did you notice the FLAVA!!!! I found it at Harris Teeter. I’m not a huge fan of fruit on the bottom, but it was still good. Nice berry flavor!

IMG_0463 (640x480)

Matt started dinner with me saying “I’ll be done in 5 minutes” about 5 different times, and when I finally got up to help it was on the table!

IMG_0468 (640x480)

We took some of our Costco Wild Salmon from the freezer to thaw last night and grilled it in a peach sauce Karen brought us a while back.

IMG_0465 (480x640)

The salmon was SOOOO much better grilled!! The char flavor made up for the tougher texture. I didn’t like the sauce at first due to dehydrated onion in it, but my palate acclimated and by the end I loved it.

We also had a grilled peach!!!! SO warm and soft!

IMG_0469 (640x480)

IMG_0474 (640x480)

Some of the best green beans we’ve ever made. Sauteed with canola oil, lemon juice, and red curry powder! (<—the key ingredient)

IMG_0471 (640x480)

IMG_0475 (640x480)

Last but not least, a hunk of rye made by my hunk.

IMG_0470 (640x480)

Everything tasted so good and I attribute it to the fact that I didn’t cook it! Food always tastes better when it’s prepared by someone else

 this !

I’ve got one more thing to write, then it’s time for some TV and/or reading!

Grilled peaches are my favorite summer snack. I normally have a few whenever we make them on the BBQ.

Nothing compares to grilled salmon. The peach sauce sounds wonderful, especially as a marinade for fish. Matt is quite the chef!!! 🙂

And congrats on getting the application out for your internship. I am so confident that you will have no trouble at all landing this thing. They would be so lukcy to have you! 🙂

Hope you had a great Monday Kath!

I don’t have a big outdoor grill. 🙁 Will fruit grill as nicely on an indoor grill pan? I know I prefer fish grilled on an outdoor grill over a grill pan…the flavor is just better.

    Mo ,
No it was Wild Alaskan (like I said in the post!) that we cut up and frozen into portion size pieces.

    Kristen ,
They say charred meat is not the healthiest, but I think fruits and veggies are OK. Esp. in modest portions and not every.single.day.

    MarathonVal,
    Drool!

    Stacy ,
I have! I’ve got my own recipe on my sidebar 🙂

    Hey Kath,
I’ve left a few comments/questions on your posts recently, but you have not addressed any of them.

I was just wondering if you are not seeing them, if you are too busy, or just choose not to address them….or a combination of all three?

Just a little bummed when I go back to see a response and I don’t see any. I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for a while now, and you have always been responsive to my comments. Sorry, not trying to take it personally or anything. I know you’ve gotten extremely busy since you first started the blog – no worries.

    Suzanne,
I read everything but choose not to respond to some questions that I have either just answered in a previous post or are easily answerable via Google 🙂

What were your questions again – sometimes I do just miss them.

    Hey Kath,
I completely understand! I know you weren’t dissing me on purpose. 🙂

I don’t really remember all my questions, but my most recent one was just regarding grilling fruit on an indoor grill pan vs. outdoor grill. I don’t have a grill – so was wondering if it works just as well on a grill pan.

    Thanks!

I don’t remember seeing that one!! Indoor grills would certainly work, but I think it would lack a bit of the char flavor that outdoor grills give.

Thanks, Kath! That makes sense…I think I’ll give it a try on the grill pan. We have a farm nearby that has peach-picking in August. So it’ll be a perfect time to grill some of them up.
