Our House Is Now Cooler

So much fun with lots of friends!!!!!!!! The theme of the night was "orange" and "beer." Also, good soups were had, delicious appetizers, lots of drinks, lots of chatter.

We threw open the French doors…

IMG_5684 (640x427)

…Stocked up on seltzers and wine, plus a few bottled beers

IMG_5676 (640x427) (2)

…Sung to the kegs

And beer came out!

IMG_5721 (640x427) (2) IMG_5723 (640x427) (2)

…Crockpotted Karen’s Chili and a Curried Butternut Squash. Both are now gone!

Plus a bunch of snacky foods (including Matt Cracks!)

Veggies + Bright Basil Bean Dip galore!

Guests arrived!

IMG_5728 (640x427) (2)

I ate a thousand veggies in bean dip and chips and crackers, plus a cup of soup, some beer, some wine. I am SO FULL at the moment!!

IMG_5731 (640x427) (2) IMG_5733 (640x427) (2)

TWO of these fabulous cookies! The recipe is a true winner.

IMG_5736 (640x427) (2)

We were given a few really fun gifts – UVA flowers from Steph and some Pistachio Rosewater Cookies from Cara that are like peanut brittle (and a few other fun edibles!).

IMG_5739 (640x427) (2)

[Cara, I LOVE the texture and the rose smells faintly like hops!] Had to break in for dessert #2

IMG_5737 (640x427) (2)

IMG_5724 (427x640)

What was once labeled as an empty space for dirty dishes is now covered. Excuse us!

Everything looked so warm and inviting. And as a Canadian, I have to confess I loved the copious use of the maple leaf theme! 😉

Also, I had never thought of using crock posts for dinner party meals but really it makes so much sense. Especially in the cold weather. I’ll totally be borrowing that idea in the future. Gracias!

I read your blog every day–along with a couple others mentioned…and I was NOT happy. In fact, I’ve already written a letter to Marie Claire complaining, and I’m not renewing my subscription. I think it’s stupid, insulting, and NOT researched well.
