Onward

I let myself sleep 30 minutes later for getting to bed a little late, but I still feel pretty bad this morning, mostly related to beer. I hate that just one [large] beer will do that to me. I also woke up to Matt’s coworker calling at 3:45 that he was late – I guess he slept through his alarm? That hasn’t happened in 1.5 years of early baking! The phone call put me into a total body sweat of shock and I couldn’t go back to sleep for a while. ‘Twas not a good night’s sleep 🙁

But onward I must go –

I’d planned no-cook cereal today and to use up milk, so that was convenient.

The foundation was a packet of Nature’s Path Whole O’s, which were just like airier (sp?!) versions of Cheerios

IMG_3221 (640x427)

Plus Sarah’s Chai Granola, Galaxy Granola, Burries, 1/2 a banana, chia seeds and coconut

All mixed up. It tasted good, but cereal is so not satisfying.

IMG_3230 (640x427)

Stash Vanilla Nut Creme. You’d think this would be my favorite tea ever, but there’s something about it that I don’t like. A spice?

I’m going to get a coffee at work! There’s a Starbucks right on my way in. A nice Saturday treat.

Hope you guys have fun playing outside today!

Yo, Kath. Do you use sweetened or unsweetened coconut? Oh, and I’m with you on the lack of satisfaction from cereal. I love it, but I could eat a whole box first thing in the morning.

I usually buy the good ole sweetened in a bag – it’s just worth it because it’s so much better. But this was from a bulk bin at a local grocery store so I don’t know if it’s been sweetened or not. I’m guessing not..

Cereal never satisfies me either, unless it’s a proper protein + fibre packed one like All-Bran! Oats and GMs are the ultimate in satisfaction 🙂
I hope your day goes better than the night!

I think that you were able to put a bowl of cereal together that looks that good is impressive on a night of little sleep. Props to you! I would have been tempted to grab a sweet thing at Starbucks along with my coffee 🙂 Well push onward Kath! Hopefully tonight you get a good nights sleep!

Cereal is one of my favorite snacks, but pretty terrible as a hearty breakfast. You certainly dressed yours up purty though. 🙂

What time does he have to be at work? That is crazy! I can’t imagine trying to sleep through that. Your cereal is beautiful, I could eat it every day if I could… it just doesn’t fill me up at all, either!

Oh, and I’m with you on the cereal. Unless it’s mixed with yogurt and the cereal itself is full of protein/fiber (like some of kashi or nature’s path slim cereals). I wasn’t much a fan of those whole o’s, but I used them for running fuel during long runs (mixed with dried cranberries and almonds.) 😀

I agree with unsatisfying cereal, excepting oatmeal. Interesting how “all calories are certainly not ‘equal'” in terms of satiety. Or is it a “mind thing?” Likely not.

I find it interesting that, given your love of “CRUNCH”, that you don’t put whole nuts (ie walnuts pieces) on your cereal instead of nut butter. Just interesting.

I do love that tea and am sorry to hear it isn’t what you expected.
    Thanks for the updates.
    Rest your body well today.

What’s funny about cereal is that I DO find it satisfying for a snack during the day, but if I eat it in the morning, I’m hungry in about an hour. Strange!!

I hope you enjoy your work Saturday as much as possible!!

I also dislike the Stash Vanilla Creme – it doesn’t taste nutty or vanilla-y enough for me. I do, however, LOVE their Chocolate Hazelnut, so try that. It’s such a wonderful dessert tea.

Starbucks IS a nice Saturday treat 🙂 I only get SB for “special occasion” like when I travel or when I want to treat myself. I am driving to my mom’s today and I might just get myself a Saturday SB treat on my way out too. thanks for the idea 🙂

I did bakery work for upwards of 15 years, and I almost always got up on time, and that time was usually in the wee hours (3 am-ish.) But, every once in a while, out of nowhere, with no warning, I’d randomly oversleep. It happens to the best of the early birds.

A hazard of bakery work, I guess.
