Lunchtime Entertainment: KERF’s 5 Favorite Nut Butters

Oh MAN this is hard ………[TWSS]

5) Costco brand or Smucker’s Natural (for those days when you just crave a salted peanut)

4) Nuttzo PF (for the crunchy unbeatable texture – with Nuttzo original not far behind!)

3) Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter (for the buttery frosting love)

2) Cacao Bliss + Coconut butter (nuff said)

and if I had to eat only one for the rest of my life…

1) It’s a tie between Maranatha Almond Butter and Barney Butter (for the sweet, roasty meltedness that is perfect over hot oatmeal!)

What are your favorites!?

Hmm…I didn’t like *either* of the Justin’s butters that I recently bought: the Maple Almond and Honey Peanut. They sounded delicious, but the Maple Almond almost tastes to me like there’s, I don’t know, finely ground silica dust mixed into the butter. Very grainy and gritty. I also dislike the consistency (too runny for me) and wish it could be sweeter.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose…

I think I could write a novella on peanut butter. Ultimately, I stick with the Whole Foods Brand of Creamy. It’s two pounds and only a few bucks and lasts FOREVER (or two weeks, because I eat it always)… The best part: two ingredients, peanuts, and salt. Yum! I don’t understand why Whole Foods doesn’t make this variety with organic peanuts. All of their organic varieties are either sweetened or stabilized with oil for a no-stir product. As much as I hate stirring, I love the richness and purity of stirred peanut butter. Oh, enough already! I must be quiet! I just really love peanut butter…

Naturally Nutty makes great organic and non-PB flavored options (Vanilla Almond + Cinnamon Sunflower are great) with the super addition of flax and hemp, Nuttzo blend is fun for the texture/crunch, but for classic peanut butter–preferring organic–the price and smoothness of Trader Joe’s organic creamy salted peanut butter just can’t be beat. They also make a crunchy variety and unsalted versions of both, but haven’t tried them. (IMO, peanut butter with ZERO salt = ugh!) Another one worth mentioning is a more local but fairly widely-available Once Again brand. For non-organic, though, Peanut Butter & Co.’s Cinnamon Raisin Swirl is hard to top. Great thread.

I also love Nuttzo. I’m a huge fan of PB & Co’s Bee’s Knees, and I love Justin’s Maple Almond Butter. Mmmm, nut butters are awesome.

I love any and all peanut butters! Ok, not really. I’m a creamy girl, not a fan of chunks!

I actually find myself always going for Smart Balance’s blend that has flaxseed and molasses. Although I’m sure there are nut butters much better for me!

I didn’t even know Cosco had a brand! I love Smuckers natural when it comes to PB. I thought Barney Butter was too creamy plus they add oil

Maranatha Crunchy almond butter for me! I have about 5 open jars (different nut butters) in my fridge right now, but this is my all time favorite!

I honestly thought that biscoff was a leaf fallen into your yogurt!! Ah, your list of favourite nut butters hurts… not a single one one is available here in Australia. I’ve never tried Barney Butter but I have one jar that I bought when visiting the States, but I refuse to open it because once I do I’ll eat it and it’ll be gone! 😛

    Hi Kath!

I really think you should try this recipe if you love goat cheese and the other ingredients listed! Who would ever think grapes and cilantro would be so grand together?

Wow, other than the Maranatha AB, I haven’t tried ANY of the nut butters you listed! Sad! Regardless, I would still say my fave is Naturally More PB. I really need to find that Biscoff spread though…

My favorite is definately Naturally More! I haven’t had it in ages though because its so expensive and I can’t justify it because I have two huge jars of Skippy Natural sitting in the pantry, as well as some Barney Butter. Hahah. Maybe next week or something.

I like TJ’s unsalted almond butter. I’ve actually been too cheap in the past to try Maranatha or Nutzo. But maybe soon(?).

omg i just discovered the most amazing almond butter and dug up this post to tell you about it. if you try it please share with readers 🙂

    1) buy a pack of tj’s sesame honey almonds (amazing as is – my inspiration)
    2) stick entire bag in food processor
    3) pulse at first and then let machine run, stop and scrape sides down every minute or so at first, when it gets really pasty break it up and add about 1 T oil (i used walnut). then let run for a long time (~8-10 min?) to really get it smooth… ends up same consistency as any store bought natural almond butter

AMAZING. if you have an empty jar around (which i’m sure you do), it fits in a 16-oz one. i’m going to be making this alllll the time now. i eat ab every day on an ezekiel cinn-raisin eng muffin w/ sliced banana but it would also be fabbbbb on those chunks of gh raisin bread you eat.
