On The Road… Again

And right now I wish I were on an airplane. Seriously Nova?! It’s not even close to rush hour.

image this !

We swung by the bakery before we left for goods and sandwiches and ate them at noon.

image

Twin Oaks Tofu and Cheddar for me. A half sandwich on Dakota. Mmmm!

image

Plus chips on the side to share… love Route 11!

image

And lots of cherries!!

Can’t wait to see my whole family!

Okay, now I have Willie Nelson playing in my head…On The Road Again! lol Despite the traffic, at least you have provisions and each other’s company to bide your time! I always enjoy being alone in the car with my husband on long driving trips…we have had some of the best conversations en route! Enjoy your adventure!

As a NOVA resident, I feel your pain. Fridays are typically bad from morning to evening rush hour. BTW, I visited a friend at JMU a few weeks back and we visited the Rt. 11 potato chip factory (it’s about 20 miles north of Harrisonburg on 81) which was pretty cool, got to try all of their different flavors!

That looks like Tysons/267. Welcome to my world! Friday rush hour in DC/Nova starts at noon.
At least Rte 1 looks good!

Yes, isn’t NoVA traffic crazy? I drive it everyday and waste about 3-4 hours of my life in traffic…what a shame. Have a nice time and drive safe.

I’m totally loving cherries right now too — I just wish they were a little bit cheaper! I’m also loving Twin Oaks tofu as well — it’s so yummpy and I love that it’s “pre-pressed.” Have a good trip — sorry about the triaffic but it’s totally a way of life in NoVa, be glad you’re in Charlottesville :).

We have cherries here too! Do you choose organic or are those conventional cherries? They seem to be in season so the prices are great and I LOVE cherries. What is your thought on the importance of organic with this particular fruit?

It might be worth it to find organic cherries, as they are on the “dirty dozen” list that are among the worst things to buy conventionally due to the amount of pesticides: http://www.organic.org/articles/showarticle/article-214
I keep the list of the “dirty dozen” in my purse when I go to the store, just so I know what to buy organic!
And YUCK to the traffic – we’re driving up 95 tomorrow through NoVa and I’m not looking forward to it!

There’s no way I’d an arm and leg for organic cherries. Until there’s a long-term randomized trial showing conventional do your body more harm I’ll save my dollars for travels.

My kids picked out Dakota today and we just had paninis. We also loaded up on the cherries while at the grocery store’s produce sale – $2.99 lb. $4.99 for 4 lb strawberries, $1.88 pineapples, .99 lb grapes and broccoli, $1.49 peaches plus other produce. The kids each had a medium sized cart and I had a regular cart and we had them full of mostly produce, as usual. How exciting that you get to see your whole family, enjoy your trip!
