On A Sunday Schedule

Mornin’. I woke up at 8 this morning with a slight headache and lots of stiffness. I of course turned to my remedies: yoga + oatmeal. I did 45 minutes Yoga For Runners, which I like a lot. My stiffness is gone, headache pending.

By the time I was finished with yoga it was 9:00. Since I’ve got lunch and a movie with my girlfriends today, I knew time would be tight. I asked the husband if he’d rather make breakfast or go for a short run. He chose breakfast. The run can wait 🙂 I’m planning to bike to the movie and walk to the grocery store, so I might just skip a run to avoid taking a second shower.

The topping spotlight today was on this Cocoa Pistachio ProBar. I like these more and more with each new flavor I tried. I love how they are like a bunch of seeds compressed together – they crumble easily and have lots of fun little pieces to chew.

The mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats, vanilla soy milk, water, 1/2 small banana, 2 tbsp wheatberries, pinch salt, splash vanilla, 1.5-ish tbsp raisins
  • ~1/4 ProBar
  • 1/2 tbsp flax
  • A few butterscotch chips
  • Spoonful EF PB

We shared a French press, so I had about 3/4 a cup of cafe –

Off to shower, walk to HT, bike to movie and Dean & Deluca. Have a super Sunday 😎

What kind of butterscotch chips do you use? I checked some out at my grocery store and they all had trans fat (partially hydrogenated oil) in them…

Interesting ProBar flavor… I’ve tried a few but not that one. I haven’t been too crazy about them, but I can see how they’d be good in small doses as a topper.

Kath, why do you add salt to your oatmeal? Can anyone tell me the effect of salt, and if we can skip it.

    Katie ,
Unfortunately my butterscotch chips have partially hydrogenated.. in them too. I didn’t realize this until I had opened them! I’ll finish the bag, but not sure I’ll buy them again.

    Miche ,
You can definitely skip the salt. It’s more to bring out the flavor, as salt is known as a flavor enhancer. I don’t really taste it, but I notice my oats are blander when it’s missing.
