Wake Up Ears

Are your ears awake yet?

this !
Our Breadcast is now online at CvillePodcast.com! Listen to us chit and chat about who we are and why we’re opening a Great Harvest.

My amazingly talented cousin Chris has been writing music and recording albums for years. His latest is available for download for FREE at Mediafire. It’s called The Pray For Daylight. It’s a musical recipe of folk, soul, guitar, piano and heart. I love his voice! Chris also sings vocals for a piano piece called The Perpetual Calendar by his pianist available for free here  <3

***

I just heard about all that’s going on in Japan and the west coast. Bless the other hemisphere this morning.

Question for you – do you ever make the chia “gel” (add water)? Do you think chia is just a effective just as the seed? I sprinkle it on everything too but rarely make the gel. Just curious as to your thoughts…

I hate how people say carbs and only think it means “bread”.

Vegetables, fruits, even nuts and seeds have carbs!

But I still eat bread – sorry 🙂

(and it’s not just the physical body that needs energy – the BRAIN needs glucose for fuel).

No, that is not correct. The body does NOT NEED dietary carbohydrates. That is a myth and a misconception. The only nutrients NEEDED from the diet are essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. That is why they are called ESSENTIAL – the body cannot manufacture them. There are NO essential dietary carbohydrates. It is correct that GLUCOSE is needed by the body, but glucose does not have to come from dietary carbohydrate, it can be created from amino acids and glycerol through a process called gluconeogensis. I am not saying that one should not eat carbohydrates (although there are definitely people that are healthier without them). I am simply correcting a common myth that carbs are NEEDED in the diet. They aren’t. The body could not live without essential amino acids or EFAs, but a diet completely without carbohydrate can be maintained indefinitely without health detriment. There are plenty of examples throughout history where societies have lived exclusively on fish and animal meat (protein and fat). Please stop spreading junk science like every other RD out there who says “carbs are NEEDED”…they aren’t.

I’d like to see you live off carbohydrates alone and see how well you function. Ketones??!? I’ve never heard of any human that has lived exclusively on fat and protein for more than a short period of time, if at all.

You can argue if you want, but that doesn’t mean that the majority of us don’t need glucose for our brains by means other than gluconeogensis. Maybe technically it’s possible, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good way to live.

I LOVE your new spoons but I can’t find on Etsy how much a custom one costs. How much did you pay?
