Musclewich

IMG_0208 (600x450)

^^ Muscle replenishment! Body Pump, per usual, was super hard with rockstar Chris today. He sure loves those long holds!! I love that class so much that I am never tempted to skip it. I feel like it really is my one KILLER muscle workout for the week. But in the middle of it….oh I hate it so much!!

After a shower and a ride down the hill, I had a Monticello Garden sandwich (hummus +veg)

IMG_0207 (600x450)

On the side – an apple with Chocolate Sunflower Butter. Man it’s been a while since I’ve had a crunch apple! These go into our Apple Crunch bread and while I don’t love green apples, crunch is better than mealy red.

IMG_0203 (600x450)

Naturally Nutty Chocolate Sunflower – as good as it sounds!

IMG_0204 (600x450)IMG_0206 (600x450)

IMG_0201 (450x600)

I have back-to-back meetings and more things to do stat! See y’all!

    Hi Kath,

I have a question. I’m not an active person other than the walking I enjoy for relaxation purposes. I do eat bread and grains with most meals. Is this fine? I live with a trio of roommates who are disordered and its impacting me negatively. I don’t crave breads, but I just eat them because their food and I don’t want to deprive myself.

I would suggest finding new roommates!! I’ve been there and you DON’T want to start the vicious cycle of disordered eating. Whole wheat bread and grains are delicious and I too eat them with every meal and some snacks too! Good luck and walking is great exercise too!

Just wanted to say that not eating bread or grains that frequently does not = disordered eating in and of itself, although I’m assuming everyone knows that. I eat bread sometimes for fun (with butter, ahem), but I don’t love it in general, nor does it make me feel really great if I eat it frequently. I also don’t eat very much in the way of grains- pretty much only brown rice and occasionally quinoa or oats- because most of them don’t make me feel really great, either (to me, millet = bird seed, not something I need to eat! 😉 I just know that grains are not supposed to be that prevalent in my diet based on how I feel when I eat them as frequently as most people do, even if they aren’t refined. I ate whole grain bread and a grains several times daily for most of my 35 years, and I did not feel well when I did. I’m not celiac, either- it’s nothing that extreme.

I find that pre-bagged apples are usually less expensive (and mealy) because they’re not the ones that I’d pick out if I had my druthers. They’re usually a bit more holey, dimpled, etc. (They were well loved!) I buy these to make recipes (love me some apple pie), but for a good eatin’ apple, I’ll pick my own from the bins. When I do this, I can ensure that they’re hard, and almost always crispy!
