Mother Trucker

Karen drove this 26′ U-Haul 6 hours up from Charlotte ALL BY HERSELF. She is crazy!!!! And brave!

IMG_0696 (640x480)

Didn’t have the hands to photograph any of the moving at her place, but I’ll get some this afternoon.

I DID, however, manage to photograph the guys bringing in our new entertainment center! It doesn’t fit in her place so it’s on extended (permanent!?) loan to us!

!

I spent the morning vacuuming furniture (although I wrote “vacuuming laundry on Twitter and almost just did it again!?).

Then we took a rug to a rug store to be cut down. Then we returned the truck. Then, lunch! My “morning toast” actually held me over just fine (although I did eat lunch sooner than normal today).

IMG_4556 (640x427) (2)

We fancied up salads with bacon, grilled eggplant + carrots + peppers and goat cheese! All tossed in some Garlic Gold and garnished with Great Harvest Dakota croutons.

With a pear on the side for dessert

Headed back down to Karen’s for some unpacking and settling in. I biked over there this morning but am in a car now. Plan to bike back. It’s only about 2 miles from our house and a pleasant ride!

I could never drive a truck like that! My husband drove a much smaller UHaul when we moved to our house and he totally made sparks fly on the sides going through an underpass that was too narrow. Woops. I’m impressed!!

this may be a bit of an odd question, but does that variety of pear taste differently than the others? I always buy Barletts or Bosc…I’ve noticed the kind you had for lunch in the store before but never tried them…

It does taste a little different – a little grittier and the skin is tougher, but I love the texture.
