Morning Toast

IMG_4553 (640x427) (2)

When I watch House Hunters it always gets under my skin when people say "Oh this balcony would be perfect for morning coffee and the newspaper." I’d like to know how many of those people really drink their coffee and read a paper newspaper on their decks and balconies after they move. And, why not just say "drinkin’ coffee." Why does it have to always be morning coffee.

Similarly, whenever Matt describes Great Harvest, he always tells people "The bread is perfect for sandwiches or your morning toast." I know he uses morning because it puts toast in perspective, but it still gets on my nerves! I just picture some businessman with a glass of orange juice and a slice of toast with butter. "Part of this complete breakfast."

No idea why I’m explaining these gripes to you other than the fact that I had morning toast today

 this !

IMG_4548 (640x427) (2)

A fat slice of Great Harvest Warrenton’s Apple Crunch bread topped with Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter, half a sliced banana, chia seeds and a drizzle of honey.

 IMG_4547 (640x427) (2)

Whenever I see other bloggers eat toast with banana, it never looks very filling. Like air! But this was pretty filling, and it tasted amazing. JUST what I wanted! Hope it holds me over – It was a pretty good amount of bread!

IMG_4544 (640x427) (2)

I also had some beer straight from the keg…

IMG_4545 (640x427) (2)

Just kidding! That’s cool coffee 🙂

Today is moving day for Karen (she has a 26′ U-haul to unpack) so we’ll be helping her all day. Hopefully with a little pizza to end it!

Yeah, “morning coffee” and “morning toast” are kind of redundant.

…unless of course they mean “mourning” coffee. As in, mourning the fact that they have to get out of bed.

I wonder the same thing too watching House Hunters and the like.

Honestly, I have a pretty nice (small) back deck and a porch up front–but don’t really use them for eating. I especially don’t use it for breakfast–which I tend to eat as soon as I get out of the shower, with wet hair, in my PJs! Nope, not doing that in front of the neighbors!

Oh House Hunters! I love the international ones. And I love the awkward “cooking in the kitchen together” scene when it is 6 months later. It is so forced. You know what I’m talking about? They are like cutting cheese with the same knife? Or she is doing something that makes no sense like cutting baby carrots in half. Anyway..that toast sounds delish. And that coffee really does look like beer!

OMG totally forgot to mention this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I camera crew was coming over to film me in my kitchen the LAST thing I would make would be bread from a bag slapped with PB&J!!!! It’s ALWAYS PB&J!! Or bagged lettuce being poured into a bowl.

It’s totally fine if that’s what they eat on a regular basis, but at least make it look nicer for a camera – pour the lettuce out before they arrive and pretend to chop it!

It’s good to see you eating something different for breakfast. I like my toasted rye bread with TJ’s sunflower nut butter, jalapeno apple jam, sliced banana, and chia seeds. It’s a little on the savory side and very satisfying. I usually toast two small slices, and add a half or whole banana depending on the size. We need to get some great harvest bread here in Indy. All the different flavors look amazing. Have you thought about adding GH bread to your opensky?

Evening coffee would be just as enjoyable there. My husband is Australian and slices avocado and puts it on his buttered toast with black pepper (and eats it anytime of the day). I know it sounds strange, but try it, it is delicious! And, avocados are so healthy for you.
