Missing Energy

IMG_0155

We’re having one of those cloudy days where it seems like the whole world is empty. All the energy of a sunny weekend has been sucked up in the bright, white sky.

And it’s gotten colder too – had to don the sweatpants!

IMG_0150

My stomach has been queasy all morning – no idea why. I was going to do a prenatal DVD but that plan has continued to be pushed back. Maybe I should eat grass like Pumpkin!?

IMG_0154

Sometimes if I munch on a few dry things – like chips or cereal – my appetite returns, and that’s just what happened today.

IMG_0149

IMG_0161

Old fashioned PB&J on Dakota

IMG_0158

And a goat cheese salad with honey, olive oil and salt

IMG_0159

Note my new stainless straw! I got this pack from Amazon after you guys made me feel guilty about the cheap plastic ones. I like the stainless ones a lot (the pack came with a brush cleaner for the inside!) but I do not have the best aim and keep poking myself in the gums!

IMG_0160

Maybe all the energy on the earth is being sucked into this giant pot of boiling brew!? [If you know what beer boil smells like, you can just smell it coming off the screen!]

Idk if this is true or not but when you drink out of a straw you end up sucking in more air which leads to bloat? Anyways I think straws are super fun!!!

I’ve been wanting some glass straws, or other reusable ones, but I was wondering about how to clean the inside – that’s so neat a little brush came with your stainless steel ones! Ouch – I would probably do the same thing and poke myself, though, hadn’t thought of that.

    It’s Sunday! Take a break!

Have you and Matt ever thought of signing up to do a reality show? Maybe a health/fitness-themed show, showing off the bakery and your business! I would totally watch!

I don’t think I could handle the invasion of privacy that comes with realty TV. I don’t want a camera on me when I wake up in the morning! Maybe if someone paid me like $5M to do it, but I don’t think that is going to happen 🙂

I don’t know what is with this body of mine as of late but my energy is g.o.n.e….. The baby is taking its toll these past few days- hungry and tired. I want some energy back. Crossing my fingers for some to hit tomorrow!

Maybe you have mentioned it before and I have never noticed but today I did – the honey with the goats cheese and salad. One of the best tapas dishes I have ever had was a circle of the round soft goat’s cheese, very slightly warmed and drizzled with a clear runny honey. Oh my, that was good. So thanks for the idea of adding it to a salad 🙂

You just never know when you are going to have energy and when you aren’t. And you just have to roll with it. I’m at 31 weeks now, and this 2nd pregnancy has taken its toll. I gained weight faster, I have insomnia. There are days when I pop out of bed at 6, get a bunch of stuff done, and walk to the farmer’s market (3 miles), and days when I roll off the couch at 8 am and barely get through the day.

Today was a good day. I walked 2 miles (up and over a big hill), spent 2 hours cooking, and am about to go swimming. With the 1st pregnancy, I was much more active with classes, weightlifting, etc. Now at 6 years older, with a kindergartener, I’ve slowed down. But I don’t want to stop! Because if I stop, it will be hard to start up again, and I still have 9 wks left.

They let you eat goat cheese? The doc took goat cheese off my list. And when I asked “what about if it’s pasteurized?” I got “well, I don’t know.” I miss goat cheese.

I think these days of fatigue are ones when the baby is growing 🙂

And yes, I think pasteurized goat cheese is fine. At a restaurant you would need to ask for clarification, but at the grocery store it’s easy to read the label and see

We are enjoying a gloriously sunny day…great for my husband to do his annual spring bbq cleaning! It’s all ready for mild and hot italian sausages on my homemade buns for dinner! A homemade beer would sure hit the spot and pair nicely with the sausages!

Ive been looking for glass straws because I use a lot of straws too. I didn’t realize you could get stainless steel as well. That will be a lot more practical with the kids for sure! Thanks for the link now I can check one more thing off my to do list.

Kath, my sister is a home brewer too. Her birthday is next month and I’d like to get her a cool beer brewing related gift. Do you or Matt have any suggestions?

Any brewer would probably love a gift certificate to Morebeer.com! That’s what Matt always wants. Or to the local home brew shop. Or the book “how to brew” by John Palmer

The reusable straws are definitely a good investment for anyone who uses straws regularly – good for the environment and the wallet! But, the stainless steel straws get cold easily when you’re sipping on iced drinks or frozen smoothies. I highly recommend glass straws (http://www.amazon.com/Glass-Dharma-Simple-Elegance-Straws/dp/B004UBN9LM/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1336337942&sr=1-7). And they even come with the brush so you can clean them thoroughly!!

I’ve been curious about metal straws. It seems so strange to me, I don’t know if I could get used to the feeling of it. I use plastic ones. I’m selfish, I know. 🙂

Just after reading your blog this morning I read an article in the Wall Street Journal called “Grains Well Spent” about chefs and bakers using their spent grains from beer making. . . have you guys ever tried it? The article is available online-check it out!

I only had morning sickness up to week nine, but now in the third trimester (29 weeks) it is back a few times a week. Sometimes when my son moves often and strongly it makes me queasy. Also, too big of a meal, and just the crazy hormones cause it as well. All worth it 🙂 Hope you feel better.

I just hate it when I feel like I can’t find any energy! Usually just taking a few minutes to sit in the sun gives me some of that natural energy, but that can be difficult on days full of clouds 🙁
I love the sound of honey on a salad! I will definitely have to try that!

Is Pumpkin sick? The reason I ask is because I was told that when dogs, in specific, are sick they eat grass.
