Four years, four birthdays!
We had Mazen’s birthday party this Saturday afternoon. Friday night Grammie and Pea came to town, and we went to Random Row Brewing (where Matt will be working) for the soft opening for friends and family.

The space is beautiful with lots of modern touches and warm wood. (Kombucha for kids!)
The beers were good too! I liked the dunkel the best. Check out the wooden taster holders!
On Saturday morning I went for a 3 mile run/walk, and then after breakfast Dad and I went to the Monticello Heritage Harvest Festival!
We had fun exploring and tasting around, and had a nice lunch in the press tent.

When we got home it was party time!!
We did a simple friends party for Mazen this year with a light soccer theme. My mom organized a treasure hunt that was a huge hit! The kids loved combing the yard for trinkets.
After the hunt it was cake time! As usual we ordered a cookie dough cake from Sweet Haus : )

The rest of the party was spent sweating in the late-summer heat!
And trying to squeeze in a few portraits. This part did not go so well!
By the time we got to KK he was done!
But we moms are always ready for a picture!
KK and Mazen are working on his Halloween costume together – a ghost! Mazen is so glad she’s here for a week!
For dinner that night we were all too tired to go out, so we ordered Zoe’s Kitchen. A big family-style meal is only $40 (for 4-6 people) and comes with kebobs, a big salad, two sides, hummus, and pita bread.
We thought this meal was so good! And it tasted as fresh as if we had prepared it ourselves.
Mazen has had a great time having his grandparents here to celebrate!!

I LOVE that the brewery has kombucha on tap! I really wish more breweries would do that for GF people!
Also, that cake looks AMAZING and delicious. I’m not a huge cake person but I would love a slice of that baby! Happy Birthday to Mazen!

Happy Birthday Mazen! However, Kath, your website is killing me! It crashes on my iPhone every time I open your site and I tried the desktop version on my Mac and am having similar issues 🙁

Yes, me oo. At least it crashes in Safari on my iPad, though it works (better) in Chrome, which i don’t use much. Also anniying, having to go back to the too to read comments. I liked thm better at the bottom.

And today, after I had left the above message, Chrome crashed at least 3 times before I gave up and decided to wait to use my desktop!

I have been having the same problem on my iPad for some time now, actually. It continually says it has to reload the page due to a problem. I have stopped looking at the blog on the iPad as I’ve had no problems on my Android phone with Chrome.

Mine crashes too, and I’m in Safari on my iPhone. I have to view it within facebook.

Just to chime in, I also have the same problem on my iPhone when I use Safari – it just repeatedly crashes!

Same. Extra candle for one to grow on. Happy Birthday to your Mazen! A birthday party for a kid always winds up being a lot more work than anticipated even when trying to keep it low key. So worth it though! And OMG that cake.

First off – Happy Birth-day to you, Matt & Mazen! Also – the cake in the first picture made my mouth water, your dress is lovely, the brewery looked amazing and lastly, i’m all amazed over here at how (from the outside) gracefully you and Matt are co-parenting. I love that you were able to still have one party for him and that you’re able to be together, for him. Obviously it doesn’t work that way all the time, but it was very heartwarming to see. <3

Ditto on the website crashing issue. It constantly reloads and sometimes will redirect me to a blank browser page. No offense but it is really irritating and I went from visiting once a day to maybe once a week now, if not less…
