Lunch In The Great Hall

KeswickBlog

Last year Karen took us to Keswick Hall for a fancy Christmas lunch. We enjoyed it so much we returned – this year hosted by Karen’s friends Tracy and Clayton.

IMG_3144Blog

Keswick is gorgeous and dramatic and settled in the Virginia countryside.

IMG_3141Blog

Karen and me – hungry for lunch!

IMG_3146Blog

The format of the lunch is fun – soup and salad are served but then the rest is buffet

Carrot + Ginger Soup

IMG_3153Blog

Apple + Goat Cheese Salad

IMG_3155Blog

There were a variety of salads – and smoked salmon!!

IMG_3158Blog

And I followed those with some herby caper chicken, mac n cheese and green beans. I haven’t had mac in ages – it was great!

IMG_3160Blog

The dessert buffet was somethin’ else! I love how the portions are small-ish too so you can taste more.

IMG_3139Blog

I tried a round swirl cake

IMG_3165Blog

Shared a crème brulee, chocolate chip bread pudding and a chocolate mousse with Karen!

 IMG_3166Blog IMG_3162Blog

We ended the meal with some peppermint tea

IMG_3169Blog

Thanks so much to Tracy + Clayton for lunch – and for this fun gift for a foodie!

Can you believe it’s Christmas Week!?

How incredibly funny – I had lunch at Keswick today, too! Our office Christmas luncheon was in the downstairs, under Fossett’s, in one of the private rooms. I bet we were there at the same time! 🙂

Wow…Keswick is gorgeous and dramatic and so stately and fancy. These pictures are like something from a fancy magazine..prim and proper and smelling of class and culture and all things that my barefoot, sandy-footed, salty hair and smelly self (at the moment) from being outside all day today is world’s apart from here on the equator. These pictures transport me to a glimpse of your world and I love them!

Karen looks so good! Merry Christmas to her (and you & Matt, of course!) 😉 I cannot believe it’s the week of Christmas already…December went so fast! I’ve got all my shopping done, but I still have a bunch of wrapping, baking and a little decorating (tree went up late this year because of carpet cleaning) to do…
