Love Cakes <3

IMG_0791 (1024x768)

I received this package in the mail from Quaker announcing their new pancake mix!

IMG_0793 (1024x768)

The results: Pumpkin Lovecakes!

this !

IMG_0872 (1024x768)

I love this heart-shaped mold! Not only did it make them in a cool shape, but they were higher and easier to flip since the batter was contained

IMG_0868 (1024x768)

I used 2/3 a cup of batter for 2 portions, which made 4 hearts.

IMG_0876 (1024x768)

Each was topped with 1/4 cup pumpkin mixed with cinnamon, ground flax, walnuts, coconut butter, and syrup. Plus half a tiny banana with PB on the side for some fruit.

IMG_0877 (1024x768)

The husband made French press for us. I think the container really only makes one cup, so we each got 3/4. And whatever coffee he used was gross and burned (or he let it sit too long). I have moved into the top French presser spot in this house 🙂

IMG_0869 (1024x768)

I just changed all the bedding in the house and cleaned the kitchen. We’re off to the gym now.

I am FURIOUS at the weather forecast: . For the next 5 days. Ugggg!

HA! Last Saturday I made heart pancakes for my fam using the same little molds! Aren’t they great?
    http://lovinmytummy.wordpress.com/2009/01/18/diabetics-beware/

I love that Quaker came out with an oat based pancake mix, though its pretty easy to make your own. Are there a lot of other things in it besides oats and a leavening agent?

    Enjoy your Saturday!

Those pancakes look so good! The toppings remind me of sticky buns. 🙂

I love french press coffee, but I dropped mine in the sink and it shattered. 🙁 I’m back to a drip machine for convenience during the work week.

Hmmmm…I’m thinking a pancake mold sounds like an excellent new kitchen gadget.

I made pumpkin spiced pancakes last weekend and I thought they were delicious. The boyfriend however disagreed. Which means I now have frozen pancakes in my freezer that are great for mornings when I need to bring my breakfast to work.

Greetings from the gal in Greensboro who wrote months ago and hasn’t since then – I read every day, though! I was wondering – how do you score all these sweet ‘gifts’? Is it all from hosting such a great blog? Just curious… love swag : ) It’s fairly nice in GSO today – my hubbie and I took the dog for a walk but we’re snuggled inside now. Happy weekend!

    littlediva ,
    Just up the road!

I am lucky that companies and PR reps stumble across KERF and offer to send me samples and what not. This package stems from the relationship I started with Quaker in November.

My 16 year old son is on a weight loss journey -actually the whole family is- and he keeps asking me to bring up “that great food blog with the oats”- KERF. Today with heart shaped oatmeal pancakes, I think the idea has him in absolute bliss. Keep up your wonderful posts – you have presented me with food ideas I have never even considered before !

I just picked this mix up last week. I made the heart healthy recipe on the back of the box, but they were a little dry. I may try the traditional preparation next time. Since everyone’s looking for the molds, they have them at Crate & Barrel in their Valentine’s Day collection or at cooking.com.

Here’s a tip, you can also make eggs on the skillet with those molds. It keeps the whites a bit thicker, which I love. I always spray the molds lightly with Pam to allow the pancakes or eggs to slide right out.
