Long Lost

Emily and I had our final early morning run today. 5.66 miles at 7AM. They were wonderful. We didn’t fun fast – just for enjoyment. I will miss her!!

Did I mention I’m also running in a 4 mile race on Saturday!?

IMG_7838 (640x427) (2)

I put Gatorade (half a small bottle) in my Camelbak and it made such a difference in hunger. I didn’t have that “my stomach is folding in on itself” feeling while I showered.

And it gave me time to make some long-lost oats!!

IMG_7850 (640x427) (2)

My taste for oatmeal is as stong as ever, but since I haven’t had my own kitchen, I have been doing less time-intensive breakfasts. These reminded me how good oatmeal is!

IMG_7848 (640x427) (2)

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Half banana
  • Pinch salt
  • Splash vanilla, cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup blackberries, stirred in at end
  • Crumbled Great Harvest Apple Streusel muffin (!!)
  • TJ’s Sunflower Butter (my new FAV!!!)

Karen’s coffee is STA-RONG

Mmmm, strong coffee. Whenever my husband makes coffee at his office, his coworkers tell him that he’s gonna kill them. He likes it strong.

Though this morning we goofed and we both put water in the coffee maker, meaning we produce 10 cups of coffee rather than 4-5. It was basically just water.

Hey, I’m in the market for a hydration pack… which one do you have? I seem to remember you having the Nathan one. I’ve heard that the Nathan pack is super comfortable, but the bladder isn’t as great as a Camelbak bladder. I’ve been wondering if it’s possible and/or worth it to get the Nathan pack and slip a Camelbak bladder into it.

Anyway, if you have any insights on hydration packs, I’d love to hear it!! 😀
