Life Goes On

Sometimes I feel like life is just going on without paying attention. It’s already Thursday, another fantastic bowl of oats in my stomach and I’m headed to work again. I am SO EXCITED about this weekend – 48 whole hours to myself!!! My first weekend in a month to just relax (Casey+Micah’s Wedding –> Race practice –> NYC –> Race –> SCDA). The only thing scheduled is a dog birthday party for Caitlin and Jason’s Kona on Saturday night!

IMG_0950 (640x427)

Today’s oats featured coconut flakes, butterscotch chips and a big blog of Nuttzo PF.

IMG_0952 (640x427)

The Mix

  • 1/2 cup quick oats (I find that quick oats aren’t as sweet as rolled!?)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • Cinnamon, salt, vanilla
  • Coconut flakes (which I got in the bulk bins at Healthy Home Market. They’re unsweet but also full-fat – best blend I’ve found yet!)
  • Butterscotch chips (ain’t nothin’ healthy about ’em)
  • Nuttzo PF, which should be called Nuttzo Chia Seed Blend because its’ all chia fluff!!!

Spring Blend

A spring blend… HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

I missed the Like a Prayer performance because my DVR cut out since American Idol was so darn long! Thankfully Fox is re-airing the episode tonight!

I was a competitive swimmer for a long time. Sometimes I really miss the challenge of it; sometimes I’m greatful I can swim at my own pace. I hate swimming long distances so I always break it up. I usually do something like 10 x 50 yds. on a minute which means I get one minute to swim 50 yards and get my rest in. I don’t swim as fast (or as often) as I used to, but back in the day it was more like 10 x 50 on 45.

I also really like pyramids (or ladders) which are pretty much what they sound like. 25 yards, 50 yards, 75 yards, 100 yards…and then back down again. I usually give myself 10 – 15 seconds of rest between each level. Obviously you can set it up however you’d like: 25 yard intervals, 50 yard intervals, longer rest periods, varying intensities (decreasing intesity as the yardage increases).
