Licks + Hugs

We had a fabulous afternoon complete with lots of walking, talking and ice cream!!

After a short rest at the hotel, Tina, Jenna and I walked all the way back down Newbury Street and straight to JP Licks!

IMG_0575 (640x480)

And we were happy to see a bunch of new friends!! Hi to Sammie’s son D!!

IMG_0584 (640x480)

This time I went for the soft serve, which is really the best part about JPL.

IMG_0583 (640x480)

Mint Oreo!!!!!!!! Gosh, it looks like fossilified poop if you ask me!! But it tasted amazinggggggg.

IMG_0582 (640x480)

Hangry Mark volunteered was commanded to take the group photo shots 🙂

IMG_0585 (480x640)

After we chatted up our new friends, we had to leave right at 5 so Tina and I could join a conference call with none other than the famous Bob Greene! Bob has teamed up with Barilla for the “That’s Whole Grain” Taste Challenge, where you can try a box of Barilla whole grain pasta and if you don’t like it, you get a free box of your choice. The call with Bob was with a handful of other food bloggers and we each got to ask him two questions.

IMG_0586 (640x480)

My first was: For those just starting out on a quest to get healthier, between getting enough sleep, eating right, exercising, drinking water, etc.,  is there a single healthy habit that you’d recommend to start with and use as a springpad to increase momentum?

Bob’s Response: Nope – just do them all a little bit because they’re all important!

For my second question I asked if he had a recipe for a whole grain pasta breakfast. His answer> was no, but he challenged me to create one and said he’d look into it too! I ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE!!!!

On our walk home, I posed with Lucy Stone again 😉

IMG_0589 (640x480)

And then took the most DELICIOUS shower!!! LOVE the Radisson’s spa products!!

IMG_0590 (480x640)

And drank a whole bottle of water

IMG_0591 (480x640)

Until Caitlin, Meghann and Kelly arrived!! Massive hugging ensued –

IMG_0593 (640x480)

While the Floridians got dressed, the rest of us went to Rustic Kitchen for cocktails

IMG_0595 (640x480)

Jenna + Tina ordered wine and I sipped off of both!

IMG_0596 (480x640)

IMG_0599 (480x640)

IMG_0600 (480x640)

Caitlin arrived with beautiful silver spoons for each of us! Thanks Caitlin!!!

IMG_0601 (480x640)

And late as we were, we made our way to Petit Robert Bistro for a French dinner that Tina coordinated!

IMG_0602 (640x480)

The menu was at our place setting – and delicious sounding, but a bit too vegetarian for me (at our miscommunicated request, I believe)

IMG_0603 (480x640)

Friends!!

IMG_0604 (640x480)

My other friend!!

IMG_0606 (640x480)

Wine flowed. Period.

IMG_0607 (480x640)

IMG_0609 (640x480)

IMG_0610 (640x480)

And so did the French bread!! Warm and chewy – just how I like it!

IMG_0614 (480x640)

I had a slice with a little buttah

IMG_0615 (640x480)

I had the Pate for an appetizer – all veggies and very impressive. Loved it! The green part is actually embedded stalks of broccoli.

IMG_0618 (640x480)

IMG_0619 (480x640)

Others had a tomato salad

IMG_0620 (640x480)

We ordered some mussels after seeing them on other tables and looking awesome. TOTOALLY good decision, because they were doused in sherry and amazing. Exp. for bread dipping!

IMG_0617 (640x480)

Wine #2

IMG_0622 (480x640)

More flow. Sip #3? 4?

IMG_0624 (480x640)

My entree was the veggie dish with carrot-orange puree. It was quite delicious, especially because some of the veggies were grilled. Would have been even more perfect with a fresh piece of fish on the side!

IMG_0625 (640x480)

Dessert was fab – 3 kinds of sorbets with tons of fresh fruits! I ate most of it

IMG_0630 (640x480)

LOVE my Summit friends!!

IMG_0623 (640x480)

We cabbed it home – because time is running out and we have an early wake-up time! I’ve got the wine hiccups – and miss my husband! Can’t WAIT to get in bed!

TOMORROW THE SUMMIT STARTS!!

Nite!

Of course there’s a recipe for breakfast pasta – it’s carbonara, silly! Bacon + eggs + pasta = yum in my tum.

Now, a HEALTHY version of that would be superb, so get on that. Mkay?

Mint oreo soft serve?!? That sounds AMAZING.

And dipping the bread in the mussel juice has to be one of my favorite things to eat, sometimes it’s even better than the mussels themselves!
