Lessons Learned

I’m preeeettty sure I did well on both of my tests tonight!! Both were easier than expected but still had some pretty challenging questions.

But I suppose the biggest lesson I learned was not to go to class hungry!! Because my lunch was on the later side and I was planning leftover soup for dinner, I just didn’t want to eat at 4:30! I decided I’d have a LaraBar and try to make it until I got home.

Well it turns out a LaraBar was not enough fuel for trudging through a hurricane to get to class (I literally had to forge a river like we used to do in the Oregon Trail game), taking 2 tests and commuting an hour. I was Starving with a capital S when I got home. But you know, it made the soup taste really, really good

 this !

And I decided to eat my soup right out of its storage container from the fridge!

Yup, it was about 2 cups worth

And boy these tasted good tonight:

Since I was all wet from rain, I put on sweatpants and enjoyed my soup with an episode of House Hunters in the living room.

I’m still “hungry.” My stomach hasn’t caught up with dinner (30 minutes later) but hopefully it’ll kick in soon.

Thank you to KAREN for her donation for Team KERF!! We’re up to $1,219. Can we make it to $1,260 to get another 26 in there!?!

I am planning an early morning workout because I have a long day tomorrow, including a fundraising auction for Girls on the Run tomorrow night!

G’night.

Good luck on your test results!

My parents-in-law live in Naples, Florida, so I’ve been “in the know” on the hurricane front. My MIL sent me pictures of her flooded parking lot of their company – too much rain!

We just have to worry about tornados here!

hurricanes are not good for melting, eh?
the best part of being outside in the wet/cold is the coming into a warm, dry house and putting on comfy clothes. sometimes i even think about going outside on purpose when it’s wet just for the coming back in part!

love eating soup out of the pyrex measuring cup!

haha! I love it. It’s great to sit down to dinner but eating straight from the fridge every once in awhile hits the spot too.

Nothing like hot soup and crackers after a long trudge through the rain.

How long have you been volunteering with Girls on the Run? I led a sociology class that involved working with that program (as well as the It’s Great to Be a Girl program) as part of a community service course. I thought it was such a great idea and loved that it got girls involved in sports for the love of exercise and movement, not just for calorie burn or to stay in a size two (isn’t it sad that some 5th graders are already worried about these things?). Anyway, hope you’re enjoying working with the program!

    haya ,
HAHA!! I did manage to keep most of my skin dry to prevent melting, but my clothes were quite soaked

    Heather ,
I first worked with the program as a camp counselor in college, but I am just getting back into it this fall. The first practice is next Wednesday. Unfortunately because of my lab/class schedule and the times of the practices I could only work in one day a week so I am more of a mentor/volunteer than a coach. I’m hoping I can coach in the spring or maybe next summer.

Love that you ate right out of the measuring cup! Sorry to hear you had to go through a downpour to get to class. Yikes!
