Late Night Date Night

Foodblog (13 of 30) this !

^^Apple picking! Because the peaches we went for weren’t ready yet.

Our weekend started with a pool date at Sylvia’s house for lunch. I packed up this salad to take with me – greens, leftover steak, manchego, grilled carrots and zucchini, tomatoes, and caesar dressing.

We went apple picking that afternoon and then had a quiet Friday night in. This dinner was a mix of things from the fridge that turned out quite amazing – grilled zucchini, steamed green beans, fried eggs with cheese and a caprese salad.

Saturday morning I hit up athletic conditioning with Bradley. Hard class! Back at home we did chores and then walked a mile to the IX Art Park where the Charlottesville Music Resource Center was having a fundraiser with blues and BBQ.

Foodblog (20 of 30)

I was pumped to see the Smoked BBQ Co cart there!! Best BBQ ever. I had the Three Notch’d bowl, which is layers of mac and cheese, baked beans and pork. I was SO hungry after my workout and the walk there.

It was HOT HOT HOT in the sun. We literally melted.

Foodblog (21 of 30)

We listened to music and hung out with some friends for a while before making the hot walk home.

Matt took Mazen over to Sylvia’s house for a sleep over in the afternoon! We trade babysitting with Sarah and John to give each other free date nights, and the Sayas are really into sleep overs these days, so we had the chance to stay out pretty late!

Foodblog (23 of 30)

We had dinner at Tempo, which I think is a highly underrated restaurant here! We had exceptional service, and the food was SO good. Love the decor in there too!

To start – avocado bruschetta with pistachios.

I ordered the trout, which was perfectly cooked. Loved all the veggies that came with it too! Matt was still full of BBQ (he ate his whole plate and 1/3 of mine at lunch) so he just got a shrimp appetizer and helped me with my fish.

Foodblog (28 of 30)

We also shared these amazing grits!

Our next stop was Brookville where we had a few cocktails, and then we went to Blue Light and met up with Allie, who was in town visiting! It was a late night out – but super fun!

Foodblog (30 of 30)

We went to pick up our sweet kiddo in the morning and had a fun family day at home. Hope you had a good weekend!

I love the top you’re wearing in your date night pic! Is it a dress or a shirt and where is it from?

Your entree looks like my idea of perfection! Hate when you only get one fillet of white fish 🙂 Lovely crispy skin!

I grew up in south Alabama where puled pork/bbq is a weekly staple and up here in Appalachia it’s almost unheard of — so every festival/event in town I make a straight bee line for the one guy who does pulled pork stands and buy one for myself and one for my dog, haha. He actually expects us now, which is both sad and funny.

My husband will get barbeque any chance he gets. We love the mustard based kind, which isn’t always available!

That is great that you guys have that babysitting arrangement. Your grilled food looks delicious. I have a grill and never use it…need to change that!

Your dinner from what you had in the fridge looks awesome! My leftovers never look that good, and I try. Lol. This is a great reminder for me to have more veggies on hand.

That trout looked really good! Is Tempo the restaurant that Hannah Graham was last seen in? Do you think that’s why it’s maybe more empty than other places around there?

Sounds like a great night with awesome food! Is Allie a fellow blogger, or have you mentioned her before? Mazen looks like he had a wonderful time at the art exhibit!

How do sleepovers work with the kiddos? Do they sleep in same room on separate mattresses?? So curious, I want to do this too!!

Same bed is working for now! It takes longer to get them to sleep but once they are asleep they sleep all night. A pillow wall helps!
