Last Friday Night

IMG_8976Blog

Did you remember that it’s First Friday?!

Matt and I didn’t make it to the galleries tonight. I spent the afternoon doing boring work at my computer, munching on yogurt with cranberry sauce and hot tea with steamed milk.

And then I walked downtown to meet up with Faith!

IMG_8975-2Blog

Faith and I always meet at McGuffy for the dance performances on FF’s. Support the arts!! After the performance, our group of 4 had snowballed into 7 and we ventured around to find a restaurant who could take us. After a very unfriendly visit to Now & Zen followed by a sardine-like visit to Mono Loco’s bar, we settled down at a table on the enclosed patio.

IMG_8979-2Blog

Warmed, but a bit chilly.

IMG_8977-2Blog

But the Spice-A-Rita was HOT HOT HOT!

IMG_8981-2Blog

We shared a bowl of los chips around the table. Mono Loco has excellent chips! We were all really hungry at this point, so the chips were gobbled.

Loschips-2Blog

Our meals came out shortly…there were a few issues with raw onions and mine, but it seemed to come out in one piece.

IMG_8986Blog

Except after 2 bites I realized I was eating fried chicken instead of fried oysters

IMG_8991Blog

My replacement took a while to come out, and when it did I ate too much of it as I rushed to catch up. Now I feel too full with garlic/onion breath from salsa! I would like to eat a refreshing clementine but there is no more room at the Stomach Inn.

We had a great time with all of our friends though!

Our walk home was cold, but it was a WALK!!! And for that, I was very thankful.

Goodnight!

So jealous of the menus at your local restaurants! We don’t have nearly the selection that you guys do. Not for at least 50 miles, anyway! 🙁 Fried oysters and yucca fries? OMG, that’s so awesome, and worth the wait. 🙂

Just wanted to point out (unrelated to this post..) that in the new Google Reader extension, you can browse within a blog (click on links) within the reader itself. Not just to read the recent post, but go to any part of the blog! Very exciting.

Glad you liked the “next” feature! I love that one, but so glad there is another option too 🙂

I’ve been meaning to go to a First Friday art walk here in Denver, but it looks like I’ll postpone to spring or summer because I’d rather not have frost-bitten appendages. Your food looks great; it probably looks ever better because I love Mexican food.

Eek, I bet it must not have been too great a moment when you bit into your meal expecting to taste oysters and tasting chicken instead! Hate when things like that happen! More than once, I’ve drank something thinking it was water when it wasn’t (milk, lemonade, etc…not fun).
