Jubilee

Foodblog-3100

The Jam According to Daniel cherries in my oats this morning were squealing with jubilee, much like a certain gymnast was last night!

Foodblog-3097

Matt and I stayed up until 10:30 and then went to bed. Staying up till 11:30 for the team final threw us off too much! But we set an alarm and had breakfast together this morning while watching the ending of the individual all-around final. Exciting!!

Foodblog-3103

In the bowl today:

Coach’s oats, milk, water, frozen bananas, chia seeds, cottage cheese, cherry jam and almond butter

Foodblog-3096

Hot tea

Foodblog-3098

Friday dance somersault!

I’m pretty sure the entire country is sleep deprived thanks to the Olympics…and the fact that NBC insists on broadcasting the good stuff so late. Once every 4 years though…

I hate how late the good sports keep going! Luckily, today is my last day of work so I decided to skimp on sleep and watch til the end last night. I won’t spoil in case you haven’t heard who wins!

I’ve been topping everything with cherries lately! They are so sweet this season.

I found myself awake at 1:30a watching ping pong. Oy.

How stinking cute was Gabby last night? I just wanted to give her a big hug.

We were up until midnight last night watching! I’m going to be so sad when it’s over but it will be nice to get back to a normal sleep pattern again, that’s for sure!

What kind of cherries are those? I’ve never tried cherries in my oats, but cherry yogurt is definitely a favorite – sadly, I hardly ever buy fresh cherries because of the hassle of pits. They really can be so delicious!

This is making me look forward to going to Michigan where they just had the cherry festival. I guess they have a ton of great preserved stuff they sell in the fall with cherries that I can’t wait to scoop up and put on my oatmeal!

    Have a great weekend!

This breakfast looks delectable and super filling. I’m feeling guilty about the chai tea latte and scone I am currently devouring, especially knowing that it will not fill me and I’ll be starved soon after. I have oatmeal at the office but I need to bring a few more items to make a breakfast more like this. I can’t eat before work because I feel sick if I eat that early so I need to have something available at the office.

At first I thought those were tomatoes in your oatmeal! Apparently my brain is not functioning yet this morning, haha. I’ve never seen cherry jam with such whole cherries in there like that…is that homemade or store bought?

I definitely thought those were tomorrows at first too haha! Cherry + almond butter sounds really yummy though. I need to start mixing up my oatmeal. I pretty much stick with peanut butter banana.

The McMullen Creek Greenway is my favorite walking/running spot. Crowder’s Mountain is fun too if you have time for a hike! I really like Zink (Southpark) and Sonoma Modern (uptown) for restaurants and I hear Cowfish is awesome!

Did you just put frozen banana chunks in your oats when you started them? Did they “melt” better than fresh banana?

(Although they probably melted better because it was supppper ripe when I froze it)

I’ve seen you use cottage cheese in oatmeal a number of times on your blog now (I read regularly, but don’t comment very often – sorry!), what does it taste like? I just can’t bring myself to try it for some reason, although I’m probably just missing out bigtime!

Glad you are enjoying the olympics! The atmosphere is incredible over here in the UK, the whole country is buzzing with olympic fever!

I woke up this morning to find that my mother took the last of the ripe bananas! I literally put a sad face.. lol. So just when i was about to make stove top oatmeal without bananas.. i remembered that you put in frozen bananas in yours and that made a ring in my head! LOL so it was a great idea, and it really helped too.. i just notice that its a bit more sweeter and not sure if its just me but i think since I put it in there frozen.. it might have released some water? Its a good thing I put less almond milk this morning.

It’s probably because you rarely freeze an underripe banana
