In The Movies

Hello!!!!!!!!

Having a great time so far. I think I’m going to like clinical nutrition a lot ๐Ÿ™‚ Have I mentioned I love filling out forms!? And I love my white coat and all its pockets ๐Ÿ˜‰ I feel like I’m in the movies walking around the hospital. Just getting started though so I don’t want to speak too soon!

Stopping for a quick bite to eat with the RDs. Except I won’t be dining out in the green as I was when I did this photo shoot packing my lunch yesterday. I’m in the cafeteria.

A smoked salmon + Laughing Cow + caper quesadilla –

IMG_9756 (640x427)

Love the chewiness of these Food For Life little tortillas I picked up at EarthFare. They’re pretty small so I did a double layer instead of a foldover kind. I love smoked salmon so much!!

IMG_9759 (640x427)

[That would be Matt’s big thumb – not mine!]

IMG_9758 (640x427)

Plus a beauty of a salad.

IMG_9754 (640x427)

  • Red leaf lettuce
  • Celery
  • Carrot
  • Bell pepper
  • Pecans

IMG_9753 (640x427)

And a homemade mix of balsamic + Simply Orange Mango + dijon mustard in a little jar.

IMG_9755 (640x427)

Gourmet on the go.

Hope Monday is a Funday wherever you are!

I have a question–I have seen the Walden Farms no calorie, no sugar, no nothin’ condiments avaliable at my health foods store. The have dressing, maple syrup, even peanut butter and ketchup that boasts no cals, sugar, gluten, etc. They only thing they really have is a minimal amount of sodium. Have you ever seen these products? What do you think?

Im not sure about Kath, but I do know that a little fat is good for you! Your body processes all the nutrients better with fat.

Have you ever tried the Peanut butter? I bet its pretty yucky, and doesnt taste like anything! LOL

I haven’t tried the peanut butter, but I will say that I was very intrigued! I have tried the maple syrup–which is amazing, and the dijon vinaigrette–which is moderate. I much prefer lemon and olive oil, but at work, a bottle is more convenient. I know the maple syrup has sucralose and the dressings are primarily composed of vinegars and spices.

Sounds kinda weird, but condiments (like mustard + hot sauce) often don’t have much to them other than spices.

Believe me.. you’ll be filling out tons of forms! Every hospital is very different in their charting methods, but I felt during some of my clinical rotations last year that more time was spent at the computer charting, and less time with patients. It frustrated me. But you’ll learn a ton! Always keep a pocket notepad in the lab coat, I was always finding things that my preceptors did/said that I wanted to write down. Best of luck!!

Now here I am 3 years later and close to the end of my nursing school at the ER over the Easter holidays. Gosh, am i glad that today was the last easter holiday day (yes, we get 4 days off in Germany –> Friday through Monday) but the next two days I’m off work.
