In Lieu Of A Bun

Foodblog-3515

Burgers don’t need buns. Bread works, as does a bed of lettuce, a salad base, a tortilla, or a fork and knife.

Foodblog-3512

Lunch today featured a No Bull Burger sandwiched between two slices of Cville Crunch with some cheddar cheese, lettuce, and condiments. Much easier to eat than a fat slider roll! Still required 2 napkins though : )

Foodblog-3511

I served the burger with a few corn chips and a peach. Favorite lunch sides this week!

Foodblog-3510

And a rainbow of my favorite colors to serve.

How is it Thursday already!? Feels like Tuesday!

I actually hate burgers on buns. I like buns by themselves but with a burger they’re too bready; I almost always eat my burger with a knife and fork!

You so make me want to try a No Bull Burger. Just the 583,343,959th reason I need to make another visit to Cville!

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like the peaches have been incredible this year! Every batch I’ve bought has been absolutely delicious and perfectly juicy and ripe. Southern living is pretty sweet in the summertime 😉

Today is my Friday because I’m off work tomorrow, yippeeee! I always eat my burgers on bread too. I have small mouth relative to the average person and can never get my mouth around a bun without getting burger fillings and crumbs all over my face!

If I make turkey burgers (turkey pizza burgers with ground 93% turkey, tomato sauce & italian seasoning) I don’t like a bun. However, if it’s a veggie burger or a beef burger I have to have a bun 😉

Kath, could you give me an idea for some high-protein lower-carb granola? I looked through your recipage and really like the maple pecan recipe (I pinned it!) and wondered if that one would fit the bill? Is there anything I could add or take away to make it more high -protein /lower -carb? Thanks 🙂

I wouldn’t consider granola a high protein food unless you’re going to have additives like protein powders (which I don’t think are the purest of foods) – maybe just pair it with yogurt!? Or you could reduce the proportion of oats and add more nuts/chia seeds/seeds and things.
