I’m Raining

Yoga yoga yoga. Love it!!!! Life changing. Hot sweaty. And I always leave SO HAPPY.

I met up with Emily at 4:30 and changed into my yoga clothes and we went for a wonderful sunshining walk in the neighborhoods near the studio. We had so much talking to do!

Yoga was awesome. An hour of super challenging, exhausting hot flow. Sarah (our new co-favorite instructor 🙂 ) worked us really hard! She even put in my special request of more spiders!!

At the end of class, during a shoulder stand, I look at my legs and they were raining droplets of sweat onto me in the form of raindrops

After chatting with my friends and a wet drive home, I quickly greeted Matt (who was in bed), showered, and came down to heat up a microwaveable dinner.

IMG_2211 (640x427)

Ever since I had those lentils with Food Should Taste Good cinnamon chips for lunch, I’ve been craving the combo again. SO GOOOOOD! These chips remind me of roasted marshmallows!

IMG_2206 (640x427)

On the side I had simple steamed broccoli topped with karen’s leftover sun-dried tomato pesto

IMG_2207 (640x427)

IMG_2202 (640x427)

And to drink, a coconut water + Genesis Today Resveratrol juice mocktail. These juices are really thick – almost smoothie like. I really liked it as a cocktail. Meaty!

IMG_2204 (640x427)

Raining Tears

I am also raining tears tonight because my Grandmother Vivian Younger died today. She died peacefully at her nursing home. She had just turned 90 a few weeks ago.

Here she was on her wedding day in the early 1950s. See any resemblance?!

IMG_2194 (640x427)

I have photos of both of my grandmothers and my mom (and me!) on our wedding days on our mantel.

IMG_2197 (640x427)

And here she was the last time Larbs and I went to visit her in New Jersey, Christmas 2008. With our cousin Becky –

Gram

And we had breakfast together before we left. Gram had some memory loss and we’re not sure she knew who we were entirely, but she said she enjoyed "getting to know us better" and cried when we left. Even though I’ve spoken to her on the phone since then, it was nice to think those were the last words we shared.

Yoga sounds awesome. I did a 30min hip opening flow tonight at home and it was amazing. I wish I could still go to Yoga 1 in Charlotte. I miss the hot sweatiness, as weird as that sounds! My flexibility has been getting better just with this 30min session I do 1-2x a week and maybe the swimming is helping? In a forward bend pulling behind my calves I got my forehead against my shins tonight and could hold it there. I’ve always been close but could never touch..such a good feeling! — So sorry about your grandma. Always rough news to hear…thinking of memories + looking at photos is the best way to heal. I am so sorry for your loss. I’m sitting here at work with tears in my eyes thinking of how my life would change should my grandmother pass away. I call her the “wisdom” because she is so aware of life that she knows exactly what to say/do in any situation. I just got married two months ago and the night before my wedding she gave me the hankerchief she received for her wedding with a beautiful letter. She told me that when my cousin Meredith (my maid of honor and 6 years younger) gets married, if she’s not around to see it I am to pass on the hankie to her. Your story is beautiful and your grandmother will live on forever because you will share it. Keep your chin up!

I’m so sorry Kath! To be able to know your Grandparent’s is really a gift from God I think. Will hardly has any relationship with his at all and every now and then he will say something that makes me realize what he is missing out on. She was a beautiful woman and I’m glad you got to have some good memories with her!

Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers today. It’s so hard losing family members. That’s so cool that you have their wedding pictures up – we’ve done the same with our grandparents’ pictures, and it’s so fun to see them at that point in their lives.
