Ice Ice Baby

IMG_4279Blog

Dad and I were up exercising at 7 this morning. He was out reading + walking and I went on my 4 mile route. It was hot hot hot, but not too hot to enjoy a little AM movement.

Back at home, Mom and I had yogurt bowls and I made some french press coffee

IMG_4277Blog

French press because when I opened my coffeemaker I saw a huge pile of old grounds and MOLD that I apparently had forgotten about last week!!!!!!!!!!!! Gross!!! I cleaned them out and then ran a vinegar cycle. And made french press coffee in the meantime!

IMG_4280Blog

Poured over ice! Love the slight bloom from the french press. Remember the olden days of coffee shapes!?

pressBlog

Breakfast was yogurt with cville cluster granola, banana, strawberry jam, which always requires a side of drippy crunchy peanut butter and some frozen blackberries.

I’m hanging out with my parents until we’re headed to the bakery (dropping me off for a few hours of work) and then dinner out tonight.

I’m NOT biking today. I decided I just don’t feel like getting that sweaty in 100*!

We had similar breakfasts today…except yours looks way better. I’m loving the frozen blackberries.

I also love (and am so jealous of) the fact that you and your dad got to exercise together. That makes my heart happy 🙂

Enjoy your day (and your dinner out!)

I’ve heard about those legendary heat waves in the US this year… Hope you manage to stay cool! Not biking is definitely one good way of achieving that. 😉 In any case, you exercised already – at the most opportune time, too! Not too hot in the early morning, right?!

So nice that you and and do exercise with your parents! What a healthy family you guys are! So inspiring. 🙂 Have a great Saturday – looks like it’s off to a good start!

Oh the coffee shapes! …I couldn’t see one today. Practice may be in order?
I don’t know what to do about this heat either, if I’m not running by 6:30 in the morning, I’ll regret it later…. Happy Saturday!!!

I have to run vinegar through my coffeemaker every month or so, not b/c of mold but b/c our water is so horrendously hard the calcium deposits clog up the coffee maker! I hate the smell of the vinegar brewing, it permeates the entire house!

Plug it into an outdoor outlet and let it sit on the porch or something for that ‘cleansing’.

LOL at the coffee maker. I visited my mom at Christmas, my sister was with her at Thanksgiving. When I took the coffee maker out of the closet and opened, there sat grounds and mold from my sister’s visit. Obviously, her mind was elsewhere when she put it away 🙂 Now we both do TJ’s instant. No more mold.

Sometimes if we leave a tiny bit of coffee in the coffee maker, it molds super quickly. What is that mold? I would think coffee was too acidic to grow mold. It drives me crazy!

Hey Bear!! Grammie said the 3 bears were sent to a sleepaway camp this week while they are visiting. We received a letter from them today – they are having a blast! Although Bocker was stung by a bee, so that was a scare, but he was much better after he got a cone of ice cream.

I cannot get enough homemade hummus these days; it’s both satisfying and light and manages to work with both salads and sandwiches and just about any raw veg. makes a good vehicle for transporting it to my mouth 🙂
