Hot Tea, Cold Cereal

I spent about an hour reading in bed this morning – blogs that is! I’m slowly catching up, and unfortunately had to mark lots of them as read so I can start fresh. My Reader went from 1000+ to about 300 left.

I came down pretty hungry and had no idea what I was craving. I didn’t want to take too much time to cook anything, so the pancakes I’d be considering were out. I decided it was too cold for a smoothie. So the choices were cold cereal and oatmeal. Eventually cold cereal won due to the surplus in our cabinets.

I finished off those delicious Kamut Flakes along with a banana, some coconut, ~3/4 a cup of 2% milk and a spoonful of Naturally Nutty White Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter. Mmmmmm! I love how the Kamut flakes have a really hefty crunch to them. They don’t get too soggy in milk.

With some yerba mate dark roast tea

Other than the fact that there was a dying roach at the foot of the stairs, morning is going well 🙂

I feel like the first time since ~February I FINALLY have caught up on life! May was full of vacations, writing and catching up. I start my internship on Tuesday, so I’m hoping to get more organizing and fun errands complete these next few days.

Have a wonderful Thursday all!

Lovely breakfast. I always debate what I want like that too. This morning I couldn’t decide so I had a bunch of random stuff…including some raw cookies I just made =) Hey, it’s just dried fruit and nuts!!

Have a great day (despite the roach…eek!)

I live in FL so I understand roaches! No fun at all. We have dark wood floors and the big N. American roaches (sometimes called palmetto bugs) blend into the color of the wood floor and I once accidentally squashed one with my bare foot! I made my husband wipe the roach guts off of the floor while I disinfected my foot for about an hour. So gross.

Ooh, I hate when my blog reader is even 100+! If I went on vacay, I would come back to about 300- which was too much for me. I had to cut back on blogs.

I know most people love crunchy cereal, but I’m all about soggy! Anyone with me?

    Lovin the cereal, Kath! Mmm….:D

Faye—Most of the time I’m all for the crunch. But there are some cereals that just taste better soggy. Especially the bottom of a shredded wheat box. 😀

With the PB in cold cereal — do you mix it into the milk or drizzle on top? Just curious, as I’ve never put it in cold cereal. Sounds DELISH, though! 😉

I would never have thought to put pb in cold cereal, I love it in hot cereal because it melts not sure I’d like it in cold cereal, but I’ll have to give it a try.

I usually like a nice balance between soggy and crispy but I’m always interested in completely soaked shredded wheat flakes. Nummy.
Lately, maybe because of the warmer weather, I’ve been putting frozen TJ’s fruit in my hot oatmeal (with a spoonful of AB of course). It’s delicious if you like a great hot-cold party in your mouth. 🙂

    Hi Kath!
Been stoppin by your blog a lot recently…just found you via Ange at oh she glows..

anyhooooo….this may sound like a silly question…but do you refrigerate your nut butters? they look so liquidy in your pics- mine is rock solid in the fridge and just sits in a hard blob on top of my cereal.
    whats up with that?

I recently tried Heritage O’s by Nature’s Path and I think it’s the first time I’ve had something with Kamut in it. They were super crunchy and delish!

Mmm how bout some crunchy roaches with those krunchy kamut flakes? Kidding! Did I totally just gross you out?

I have debates like that all the time. Luckily I don’t have much in the cabinets right now, so it’s between a few things.

Yay! I love catching up on life, it’s amazing how relaxing things can wind up making you busy! I have never tried pb in cereal before, do you heat this up?

Do you prefer PB & Co.’s Dark Choc Pb or the White Choc better? Never had the white chocolate one but that might be because I am addicted to the dark chocolate kind, haha 🙂

Faye – I’m one of those people that like shredded types of cereal soggy, and the rest crunchy. I’ve been known to let my shredded wheat and life cereal sit on the counter for a few minutes to sog up – tastes better that way! The rest? Bring on crunchy!

    Re. Peanut Butter,
I just nibble it off the spoon as I start to dig into the cereal. Some falls off into the milk and I find it later too. It’s not the best technique, but it makes cereal more fun.

    Lisa ,
Welcome! I refrigerate the ones that say ‘recommended’ on the side and not the rest.

    Sami ,
Of course I still read the comments! Hi!

(I’m behind on my Reader too!) At least your ‘little friends’ seem to all be dead or dying. I actually had one fly into my hair at my old apartment! Oh my gosh that was traumatic. I washed my hair for half an hour afterward and hid a friend’s place until my husband got off work! I still shudder at the thought 🙂
