Hot + Healthy Lunch Date

The oatmeal buffet was a success!! Everyone raved about the oats (so it seemed that they liked it!) and I brought some granola, Nuttzo and pumpkin butter for them to put on as toppings. The oats held their consistency rather well in the crockpot on warm all morning – they just needed some stirred at times. I don’t have a photo because I don’t have a means of blogging on my work computer – only via iPhone – and forgot to take an iPhone picture.

Lucky me, Matt biked to my office to meet me for lunch!! And he brought a delightful healthy feast along with him! He’s got the day off from work 🙂

He asked what he should pack and I said it was up to him so long as the foundation was fruits and vegetables. He was nervous I wouldn’t like what he packed, but he totally hit the spot! Go Kanz!

We each had a small sandwich on Flax Oat Bran with red peppers, cucumber, celery, hummus, dill, avocado and hot sauce.

On the side he packed an array of dips and dippers.  He planned it so that the carrot, apple and Dr. Krackers could be dipped in either our homemade hummus or some Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Cherry PB. I had some of each combination. The Dr. Krackers Cherry Semolina actually went REALLY well with the hummus!! Sweet + savory <3 I just LOVE that flavor! Definitely my favorite yet.

We ate on a Starbucks patio and I got a Vanilla Rooibos to have with lunch so we were paying patrons.

After lunch we enjoyed a 20 minute walk while the sun peeked out from rainy morning clouds. Fun lunches make the day so much happier!

Gettin’ back to work!

the Mister and I always meet for lunch on a starbucks patio and I also always buy a tea or latte so that they don’t glare at me! 😉

your Mister did quite well with the lunch! I’m fairly certain my Mister would toss me a hot pocket (and I’m sure I’d have to hunt down a microwave, too!) Good thing I pack our lunches 😉

Oatmeal buffet sounds like a great healthy idea to take for morning tea. The tradition in New Zealand is greasy sausage pastries or cakes. Must try the oatmeal idea.

Cherry crackers are definitely a unique idea. They’ve got the whole sweet and salty thing going on. I’m sure they’re great with hummus — tangy and smooth. One never does know what unexpected flavor combinations will turn out to hit the spot!

When you order the Vanilla Rooibos, does it come with the tea bag? or is it a liquid mix? I thought it was a liquid mix and was surprised when they put in a tea bag… just wondering it that’s the norm.
