Homeless Again

I’m being kicked out of my house again today! Not sure what I’m going to do, but it’s kind of fun to have to be out and about. (Although I’m sure it would get old!)

No sign of sickness from me, but I did just bite into a moldy chocolate and accidentally swallowed some…

I read blogs and cleaned all morning. It’s amazing how many things need touching up in 24 hours. Sinks, toilets, showers, floors, counters. The house looks great, and we have another beautiful day for showings! 6 groups came by yesterday and 2 seemed interested. Crossing my fingers and toes for some activity today!

I showered and made lunch at noon. I’m just going to take today off of exercise (although I may go for a walk while I’m out because my stiff legs could use loosening).

Pizza pizza! More leftovers! Wish I could have baked these in the oven, but I didn’t want to dirty up a pan before the open house, so microwave it was. Still tasted great though!

IMG_6978 (640x427)

IMG_6966 (640x427)

Item two was a leafy salad

IMG_6967 (640x427)

IMG_6968 (640x427)

Romaine, red pepper, carrot, and QUACKERS! What a great salad topping these made! Still loving them Gena πŸ™‚ I drizzled the salad with the usual: EVOO and honey.

IMG_6971 (640x427)

A POM spritzer

IMG_6974 (640x427)

IMG_6962 (640x427)

The molded chocolate πŸ™ I guess I didn’t realize that since these had cheese in them they needed to be consumed quickly. I should have frozen the leftovers. D’oh!!!

IMG_6987 (640x427)

I compensated with some of Chelsea‘s orange chocolate!

    hey kath,
i know today is your day off running — but i just wanted to tell you that you have really inspired me to try running. i commented a few weeks ago that i wasn’t sure how to increase distance past 1-2 miles — and with your advice to just keep at it and run more often — today for the first time in my life i ran almost 4! ok, it was really slow (5mph), inside on a treadmill, and nowhere near the time/distances you run, but i’m actually starting to enjoy it, have faith that if i keep at it will be able to increase speed and length, and hoping to have a new outside hobby when the weather in chicago gets warm again! for someone who thought they would never be a runner, thanks so much!!!

I was surprised to see all your plastic wear in your fridge the other night. I fear the toxins coming from those plastics! Best wishes with the sale of your cute house.

To avoid dirtying a pan I always put some aluminum foil down and then heat the food. When it is done just discard the foil and put the pan back in the cabinet. I know this is totally lazy bit it beats washing the pan.

The WORST think I’ve ever eaten (by accident) was a 1/2 graham cracker with maggots on the bottom.

That was 12 years ago and I seriously can’t eat a graham cracker without checking underneath first! (and I didn’t eat them at all for literally seven years after that….SO gross)

Sorry your chocolate was moldy! It’s because it was filled with marscapone, which doesn’t last more than a week. Gail made those specially for the Wisconsin Cheese Cupid for Valentine’s Day and doesn’t sell them online for just that reason.

Just so you know, many gourmet chocolatiers don’t use preservatives in their chocolates and you should eat them within two weeks or refrigerate them. That is, if you can wait two weeks. I never can. If they don’t have cheese in them, they won’t be moldy, necessarily, but they won’t taste as good. It’s kind of like eat good bakery items — they just don’t taste as good after a few days.

I just ate half a chocolate truffel. It tasted odd so I looked at the remainder. OMG it had a green mold between the filling and the chocolate shell. I feel a bit green now myself. Didi you have any effects from your encounter of the moldy kind???
