Hold Your Breath While You Read This

Holy garlic breath!!! Gosh I must have eaten a whole clove raw last night. Does anyone have any wives tale cures I can try? Brushing my teeth only helps for about 10 seconds because it’s coming from the depths of me.

I did manage to enjoy a great bowl of oats today –

  • 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 1% milk, 1/3 water
  • Half banana
  • Pinch salt
  • A tbsp or so of raisins
  • 2 tbsp or so of grainberries
  • 2 tbsp granola
  • Spoonful PB

Plus a big glass of fresh water!

I looooove garlic (and eat a lot of it), but I’ve never had the garlic taste/smell linger for THAT long – good luck!

I don’t think there’s anything you can do about the garlic smell, unfortunately 🙁 Just keep lots of mints/gum handy.

Oh my gosh- that clown picture freaked me out!

i have heard and tried eating parsley after indulging in garlic. I think it helped a little bit. if you go to ehow.com and type that in they will tell you.

haha, I hope Matt likes garlic!

I have a question for Kath and anyone else who might know the answer… how effective is the recumbent bike? I am still nursing an old ankle injury and this feels really good because there is almost no pressure on my ankle, but everyone keeps telling me that I am just wasting my time. thanks!

My guy is obsessed with the Roomba… we don’t have one, but whenever it’s brought up he goes nuts for the little guy. I don’t think it would be able to stand up to all our cat hair though.

i usually munch on some parsley, but that just when im at a restaurant immediately after Ive eaten. I’ve had that deep down, in-your-chest kind of lingering garlic though and nothings getting that sucker to leave.

    im no help.

    Kath and others,

I know this is a silly question, but my energy is sapped lately. Can eating the right food totally change that? I am exhausted! Kath has lots of energy and me, not so much. Yes, I am older than Kath, but any ideas? Thanks to anyone!

I LOVE the costumes. Especially Matt’s elvis-y looking hair piece he’s got going on there. Must have been some fun times after 21 beers… yikes.

Good luck with the garlic breath haha

ah I really try to *avoid* garlic for the very reason of its aftereffects! 😛 i love the taste of it, but i’m a total clean-breath/mouth freak and i just can’t stand the pungent smell it leaves. hope it goes away soon for ya!

21 years, 21 beers… lol ouch. but great clown costume matt.

I think the only thing that helps serious garlic breath is a day of some strong gum chewing, good luck!

    KatieMoo ,
I used to do the bike a lot when I was recovering from surgery. I think it all depends on your intensity. Try not to be one of those ladies that pedals 1 revolution a second – really try to push yourself and i think you can get a good workout in.

    tsbrown ,
What you eat can most definitely affect your energy levels, but probably only if you’re eating a diet that’s just complete crap (sodas, high fat, high sugar). If you’re eating moderately well, I would blame something else – like if you’re getting enough sleep! Sleep deprivation is my #1 energy zapper.

tsbrown- I have struggled with that same issue in the past and actually consulted a doctor because I thought that I had chronic fatigue syndrome. His solution- you need more fat in your diet. I had no excess fat reserves to burn through because I eat lean foods and lots of veggies and am super active. I made a conscious effort to encorporate peanut butter, cheese and things of that nature and it completely worked! Also, evaluate your calorie intake- maybe you are not eating enough.

I have also heard that parsley is a good cure for garlic breath, but I don’t know if anything helps that all over scent that comes from your skin though (=
