Group Work

IMG_8205-2Blog

Body Pump was cancelled today, but Katherine and I improvised and did our own pump session in the free weights area. Pump classes have taught me so much about weight lifting. It’s so easy for me to replicate a shorter version of the class with the same order of exercises and style of movement so that I don’t have to think too much while I’m working out. And what’s weird is that despite doing less time of each movement, I still feel just as tired! Maybe I just chose heavier weights since they were in pounds, not kilograms. Great time!

Group work continued over lunch when Hillary came over. She’s taking the afternoon off from the office after a really busy week, so we met for lunch here and then an afternoon walk.

On the menu I made bean burritos with the leftovers from last night plus goat cheese!! Salsa + yogurt for dipping.

IMG_8204-2Blog

Plus some chip crumbs

And two kinds of citrus from the box Xiomara sent me from Parkesdale Farm!

Have a great weekend!

Looks delish! What kind if wraps do you use and how do you store them? I find the whole wheat ones frequently break on me 2 days after I open the pack.

I love weight based classes as I am horrible at putting together my own routine. I typically just walk around the weight area looking lost..

I’d have to respectfully disagree! In most recipes I’ll happily substitute yogurt for all or part of the sour cream or mayo, but in the context of a condiment I’ll take a small dollop of the real deal over a big scoop of yogurt any day. Pleasure in moderation!

I love Pump classes, they’ve taught me a lot about lifting too. I feel much more motivated when I’m in a group too – I don’t think I’d manage to power through all the sets on my own! Your lunch looks fab, by the way!

I also made it to body pump, though at my gym its called Barbell Strength. My favorite, well one, of, my favorite instructors. Every bench was taken – must have been about 55 of us? crazy. Glad I got it in, always feel better for it on a Friday!

BodyPump helped me so much, but I can’t lift as much in class as I can out of class.
I think it’s because the sets are super long in BodyPump. I ended up plateauing in my weight options in BodyPump.
