Grilled Grub

You know what the hardest part of blogging is? Thinking up titles!! Seriously, it’s by far the most challenging.

Hurricane Hanna appears to be pushing into the Carolinas because our skies are getting cloudier by the minute. I’ve survived a number of bad hurricanes being a Carolina Girl, but I don’t think this one is going to be more than an inconvenience for us here in Charlotte.

I had a little snack around 11:00 – mostly out of boredom.

For lunch I decided to take advantage of the fact that I can eat at home on Fridays and fired up the grill.

I plopped on a very small eggplant, cut into strips, a carrot, also in strips, half a green bell pepper and a small peach. They all ended up on top of some spinach + romaine (yay for folate!) with some leftover homemade lime-vinegar-mustard-EVOO dressing. I topped the whole thing with a bit of blue cheese. Grilled salads with a fruit and a crumbled cheese are the best.

I also reheated a piece of last night’s pizza on the grill!

Plus, some watermelon…….

……. and 2 prune plums from yesterday.

And a Zevia Root Beer. It was an excellent batch of grub.

It’s study time until tonight, when we’re going out to dinner with friends. I am going to try to keep it modest tonight. No bottles of wine or tiramisu! (But definitely a glass of red 😉 )

I totally agree, titles are tricky!

can you explain prune plums to me? I thought that prunes were dried plums so I’m confused as to what the difference is! Thanks 🙂

    BethT and Model,
Prune plum is just the name, I guess because of the small shape. The insides are like tart, green plums. They’re pretty good!

Oy post titles. That’s why I kept it simple and went with the date. LOL

Remember back a few years ago when NC was crippled with that ice storm and the whole state was without power? Yeah, we had no power for like 5 days so we were grilling outside a lot. Did pizza and frozen dinners on the grill! LOL

    Have a great time tonight!

I have a few questions, I am just starting to pay more attention to what I am eating and tracking calories. Unfortuantly I have no idea how much protein I shoudl be eating – there seem to be several schools of though on that one? Any ideas?

    Thanks

i think prune plums are the ones they use to dry to make prunes out of!
also, if you let them ripen a bit, they become delicious and sweet. they just have to pick them before they are ripe otherwise they fall off the tree. that’s why you’re probably getting the tart ones at the store.

So, I had my first Larabar (Chocolate Coconut Chew) – I didn’t like it too much because it was kind of bitter.. any suggestions about which Larabars taste better? Or is there no hope for me and Larabars? 🙁

    Biz ,
I agree – they do make sandwiches!! We need to buy some more!

    Katerina ,
The recommendation is .8 grams per kg of body weight. So divide your weight in half and you’ll get a rough estimate. For a more accurate estimate, divide by 2.2 and x by .8.

    Ryane ,
    Cool!!!

    MKM ,
Pecan Pie is my fav. Peanut Butter is not to miss. I like Apple Pie, and Cashew Cookie was very good too. It all just depends on your flavors, but it might have been bitter from the cocoa.

    Thanks for the advice, everyone!
I’ll hit up my campus store and try one (I think I’ll try Pecan Pie or Peanut Butter cookie – I like pecans and peanut butter), although I must admit that at $2.29 (or was it $2.89? I forgot) a bar, they are quite expensive!! College campuses and price gouging, oh goodness. Don’t even get me started on the price of textbooks!! 😛
