Go Play Outside!

Wrapped another day. More learning. Still enjoying it!

I love the problem solving. Dare I say charting reminds me of geometry proofs? And calculus problems? Step by step procedure. Love it!

[Nerd alert

this !
]

So I got home today and got to work on the TWO HUNDRED emails I got today. Guf!! I do read each and every one (most of those were comments, but probably 50 of them were real emails!) so it takes me a while to sort through them when I can’t check my phone throughout the day.

I’ve decided that getting home and rushing to the gym stresses me out. I prefer to unwind a little. Get some work done. Pack my lunch and get all that daily work complete before I think about my workout. That way I can enjoy it! So long as I’ve had a substantial snack (had my apple + Alliebar today at 4:30/5!), then I’m OK. I’ve been hungrier less in the afternoons lately too?

Now that it’s springtime and the weather is so nice, I’m looking at my workout as a chance to “go play outside.” With more daylight, there’s no rush to beat the sunset. It reminds me of when I was little and I would go play at all hours of the day. It didn’t matter if dinner was appraoching – if I had a little time, I’d go play for a little. I’m thinking of my workout the same way. Rather than some big cardio date, it’s just a string of playtime periods.

Bike to the gym.

Read Better Homes + Gardens.

Play with some weights.

Play foam roller.

Bike home for dinner.

Fun times!!

I even had mom making dinner tonight. And by mom I mean Matt! Lifesaver. I’ll say it again and again. Our split dinners are working out well. He cooks early. I eat late. I promise I’ll pay him back when he’s working super hard on the bakery and I’m the one with a little more time.

On the menu: Tempeh Tacos!!

IMG_0069 (640x427)

IMG_0066 (640x427)

Tempeh + corn sauteed with Mexican spice (cumin, chili powder, Seasoning From Hell) over top of steamed cabbage with salsa, avocado, cilantro and plain Oikos!

IMG_0072 (640x427)

Soooo delicious!! I like these Food For Life sprouted tortillas. They’re small, so you can have two, and I actually like how incredibly chewy they are.

IMG_0071 (640x427)

The salsa was Don Sabrosa’s. I’m still floored by the LACK of onions in this salsa. I almost didn’t accept it because I generally don’t care for salsa at ALL but these are great and leave no onion taste in my mouth! Just good old tomato flavor and spice.

IMG_0073 (640x427)

IMG_0065 (640x427)

I watched GLEE on OPRAH with my dinner. Fabuloso! Can’t wait for it to start up again!

Dessert was a nibblet of my Chocomize selection – tonight I tapped into the butterscotch, peanut butter, toffee!

IMG_0079 (640x427)

IMG_0076 (640x427)

I had two little corners like this. A.mazing. The toffee + butterscotch combo is just divine. Reminded me of smores!

Chocomize is giving you all a 10% discount with the code: katheats. Enjoy if you wish!!

haha i like play foam roller.

i did my best to play outside today by bringing my writing work outside. i usually cant because i cant see my laptop screen in the sun–but i got crafty and made a makeshift “sunshade.” sort of did the trick–though i think i ended up doing more playing than writing 😉

Love the tacos! That is one of our favorites here too. We use Trader Joe’s corn salsa, but you would not like it with the onions. The cabbage is a must for a good crunch on your taco! LOVE it. Which book are you reading now…I hope it is The Wedding…you would love it! have a great night!

You’re not the only nerd…I loved calculus proofs, especially when they all worked out in the end. When the answer was exaaaactly what you were looking for (15 head-pounding minutes later!).

For some reason when I eat my bars before workouts, I don’t get tummy aches! They keep me full and sometimes even stuffed (when I eat 2 haha). I’m surprised you still have some left!

But we have a lot of nurses that love the Danskos too. I’ve been so satisfied with my Birkenstock’s that I haven’t invested in a pair of Dansko’s yet. Hope you find something more comfortable soon!

Thank you for mentioning that your husband is such a great help at home! Like you, I am incredibly lucky to have a partner who not only works hard at his own job, but NEVER takes any issue with having to cook/clean at home. In our house, if i work a night and nap in the afternoon, he makes dinner for when i get up. We work together and support each other around the house. I hate to always read about women that are in relationships where they are expected to “do everything at home” with kids/meals/cleaning and working or going to school full time. Yay to our great men!

So excited you are hosting the summit in Chicago. Being a Chicagoan, I can tell you there is no better time to be here than the summertime. We may have long, cold winters, but when the weather gets warm, we do it up right!

If you need any recommendations for places to eat, drink or play, let me know! There’s so much more to Chicago beyond the downtown / Michigan Ave. scene…
