Getting Bluer

After sleeping in in Larbs‘s cozy guest room bed (fitted with the fluffiest down comforter – wouldn’t expect anything less!), I said goodbye to the two of them as they departed for their Duke days – one to work and one to learn business. Our family is getting bluer! My grandmother attended Trinity College in the 40s, my parents Duke in the 70s, Matt and my wedding in the 07s and Larbs and Matt now!

Duke

Larbs directed me to Duke’s East Campus for a morning run. It was the most glorious morning – crisp, sunny, scenic. I ran about 4.5 miles around campus and through the beautiful bungalow neighborhoods surrounding it.

My plan was to walk to a coffee shop for tea and breakfast, but when I called my mom at 10am she invited me there for a poached egg on toast and hot tea, so I headed home.

Lipton!

I got to witness another round of Lillian medicine this morning. She is so cute wrapped up in her swaddle! We all coo over her for the procedure!

Mom and I are going on a quick antique hunting trip to look for more wooden boxes, then to lunch and then I’m hitting the road to ole Cville.

Runny egg on yummy bread looks amazing. Re Food buzz – I can’t see the winners announced anywhere. Do you know when they do that? I am interested to see who won in each of the categories.

Ahhhhh college campuses are the best to run through! ….unless you’re running through Syracuse. I like to call it Stairacuse, or UpStairs New York.

Your mom’s poached egg looks so good! I got back from SF last night at 11p and was craving eggs – I had to scramble up a couple for a late-night snack.

It was so nice to meet you! Safe travels home.

P.S. You guys look JUST like your mom!

Sorry to post a comment not related to the post, but you’ve gotten me HOOKED on Adagio tea! I went to the store here in Chicago (well, Skokie) this weekend and stocked up. Having a cup of coconut now — it’s sooooo yummy!

I’d love to hear what flavors others have bought and are enjoying. They were having a ‘buy 4, get one free’ deal, so I also got hazelnut, gingerbread, tropical white and coco-mint green. I can’t wait to try them all!

They are just the best all around pears – I think slightly sweeter – maybe more like honey?? And I love the texture of the skin. They’re almost like a bosc and anjou hybrid? Maybe that’s what they are!?
